The Cuetec R360

I received a new Cuetec R360 in the mail yesterday and went out to give it a whirl last night. I was shocked. This thing flat out plays.

My daily player is a full splice ivory jointed sneaky pete that I was able to have built exactly how I wanted. I waited 9 months while it was being built and could not have been happier with the results. My cue needed a repair that I thought might need a refinish which would require warmer weather. Thinking it could be a month or two I decided to pick up something cheap to play with in the meantime. I DID NOT expect a Cuetec to play like this. Best $100 I've ever spent on a cue.

Does anyone else have a similar experience? Should we feel silly for all the money we've spent on players when all along this fiberglass gem was right there in front of our faces?

I'd like to hear all the thoughts that you guys might have

Thanks!

The new girl always seems hotter at first, then you see her eating rice with a spoon one day and she's just another sandwich maker.

But yes, they and many $100-200 cues play just fine. I have maybe a dozen cues and none are customs. Isn't the R360 more in the $175 and up range though?

R360

those shafts do play great, i have a cuetec R360 as my backup for when i send my cue back to Jack Madden for a tip change or cleaning or repairs and it shoots great, i've tried most of the LD shafts out there and they all play pretty much the same to me, the R360 just happens to be one of the least expensive and it's right up there with the rest, i bought it before my custom because i figured if it's good enough for SVB then it's good enough for me, and it plays very good for how cheap i got it for
and i will second the "it's the indian, not the arrow"
some people just want more expensive arrows i guess

I only paid $100 for the cue. It has a big ugly ding in the butt that knocked the price down.

Yes, it is the Indian, not the arrow. My point was, such an inexpensive cue made with mostly synthetic materials plays really nice. It moves the ball nicely. I expected it to feel odd, but it doesn't. It's nothing like my sneaky pete, but I didn't expect it to be. I guess I was just surprised. It's not the holy grail, but it's worth the money

Is anybody saying this cue isn't a good arrow? I don't think cheap = bad anymore.

Don't think the R360 is fiberglass, and they are about $175-$200.

From Seyberts:
Ferrule: Cuetec's ACF aircushion ferrule (patent pending) is made of the highest ABS material available. The ferrule's cushioning effect provides the optimum cue ball/cue tip contact time resulting in less vibration and deflection while maximizing cue ball control and accuracy without sacrificing energy.

Shaft: Cuetec's (patent pending) R360 15-1/2" pro tapered 12.75mm shaft construction and performance features:
1. The R360 is constructed with a tubular composite core surrounded by four computer cut "A Plus" grade Canadian maple sections to ensure an exact fit.
2. The R360 construction provides maximum radial consistence ensuring the most accurate cue ball response and control.
3. The composite core inside the shaft controls deflection, squirt, distortion and prevents warpage.
4. The 15-1/2" Pro Taper provides a long comfortable stroke

I even found a picture:

Agree. All one has to do is have a look at the Players line of cues. They used to be worse than the Wally World line.

For a beginner or beyond, they make a very nice cue for a decent price. I recently purchase 3 of the HXT lam shafts.

I think the Cue Tek shafts say they are fiber glass wrapped, not entirely fiber glass.

My first cue was stolen and I found an Earl Strickland Cue Tek at a pawn shop.

Absolutely nothing wrong with them. Since we lost our only hall in town, I am not big on taking any customs or expensive production cues to the bar with me any longer.

I have been looking at the 360s myself. For the money, I don't think a person can go wrong.

I've heard through a decent source that SVB shaft might have the R-360 on the
shaft, but is actually a custom shaft from a cuemaker in the states.

I've got an R360 that I take with me on business travels, and it has won me a lot more money than any of my more expensive cues. For one, because of all the cue snobs, it elicits the reaction of "How good can he be? He's shooting with a Cuetec.".

I have been using Cuetec for 4 years now and I can say with confidence that anything more is a pure waste of money.

The shaft is very nice. The SST is fiberglass, but the R360 is not. the R360 is very nice, LD Shaft, the long pro tapper works very well with my open Bridge. It comes standard as 29" but you can get it in 30" format here in Asia.

I have the R360 Black Pearl Edge cue butt and I love it. It transfers little to no vibration, it looks plain, so it really puts people off guard, the Irish linen wrap is very comfortable, and the weight adjustment system is simple and effective; you just add/take 0.5/1.0 ozs as you need instead of replacing a whole screw.

Overall, I would say that this is the Best cue for the money. I have seen it getting sold for $78 on Amazon last month.

The only problem I have with it is the rare 3/8 14 joint they use. You can't find many replacement shafts for it.:embarrassed2:

I actually like the 3/8 x 14 joint/pin...I wish more cues used this pin.

FWIW...a couple years ago I purchased an R360 shaft to go on a Mahogany Series Cuetec butt I had (I gave the SST shaft away to a fellow AZ'er). Except for the Kamui Black tip that came standard on the shaft...I really like the shaft's playing qualities (just not a fan of layered tips). Turned that old POS Cuetec into a very decent back-up cue for my wife's case. I get it out and play with it at home occasionally (the cue, for all you dirty-minded people out there )...and it always seems to perform well. I wouldn't have any problem at all if I ever had to play a match someday using that cue.

One friend of mine, who shoots with a Frey sp, tried it and liked it. Another friend with a 30yr old Meucci (one of the good ones) also tried it and was surprised also. Nine of these guys would have given a r360 a second look until now. It will make a great back up cue for sure.

I usually cut the tip and ferrule off and replace them with what I normally shoot with, but this is just fine the way it is.

That was really cheap, the ones on there now are $169.99 and $177.99.

They have the "inlay series" which run in the mid $200's I believe. Makes me wonder if they are actually inlaid

I'm sure they are.... labor costs are just a tad cheaper in China ;)

but regardless, I have a few players house cues that play just fine..... some cue makers are more myth than magic imho .....

Don't know if it would affect play all that much but it isn't a difficult or overly expensive operation to have the pin and insert changed out.

Then yer free to use whatever your heart desires.
