The Break in Cahokia

I just stopped in to see if he wanted to play some. Predictably, he is scared.

lol, liar.

I told you here, and you read, not too long ago, that: I would not play you in Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Louisville, or Vegas. That I would see you in NJ on March 18th:

(sigh) This is the endless loop of insanity I was talking about. Bye for now, John -- see you at the DCC where I have no doubt you will rise to new levels of loon.

Just because you told me previously you wouldn't play doesn't mean you're not scared. I think you are. I thought no harm in asking. Who knows you might have found some heart between then and now. But no, no heart. Probably shouldn't be looking for it somewhere over the rainbow.

Anyway it was fun to see you for a brief time. I will be sure to sweat all your matches at DCC. I have to see if you have improved since the last time I beat you.

Nope. I was told you talked it up, and said: A) I was playing the music too loud and endangering my hearing, and B) you said, “What, no Snoop Dog?” I’m not sure what your ravings were after that.

The reason you could hear the music, which I actually had set at a modest volume, was that it was new set of wireless earbuds that I got as Christmas present and hadn’t used before and wasn’t sure how to adjust.

In any case, only a bozo like you would say that someone who is going to play you in NJ in a couple of months for $10K is “scared.”

Lou Figueroa

Oh you're scared. Just because you might play in March doesn't mean you're not scared. I called your 3k bluff so not much you could do there. We will see if you show up.

And I said what are you listening to Tchaikovsky or are you a closet Snoop Dog fan? I have to admit I was not prepared to hear Over The Rainbow.

You are special for sure. Nearly everyone I talk to who knows you agrees on that.

Anyway I am going to show Terry the Chromecast so that all your fans in the room can see you play. We might even set up a live feed of their reactions to the match. That would be cool to see who they cheer for :-)

Either. I think I would need to give Mark weight and I think Terry and I might be about even. None of us was bearing down. Great guys really and they seem to love pool.

Terry probably hasn't played in uptime years. But if your playing him even, I would need to bet on Terry! Let me know if it is going to happen.

I know Pam very well. But, generally speaking I don't put my business in the street at home and keep what I'm up to to myself, unlike you. At one pool hall I played at for many years people talked about how I kept things pretty close to the vest and thought I could be DEA, or Mexican Mafia.
As to The Break, I have written about it and how congenial the owners are, how convenient it is to St. Louis, and that they have good food and cheap drinks.

And oh yeah -- none of that changes that this afternoon you stood in the middle of the pool hall and "talked to yourself" lmao and confirmed how whacked you really are.

Lol, I read the part in red and all I could think about was this:

Interesting read.

JB - you got hustled.

:-). Probably. Good thing I haven't lost any money yet. So far I am two slices of pizza and a Dr. Pepper ahead at The Break and I got to see Lou act like a petulant baby. Poor guy talks about growing up at Cochran's.....they would laugh at him now if they could see how he handles a little poolroom barking.

You guys are getting close to the edge now by calling each other names (stupid). I know you do not see the harm, consider it harmless woofing, but if it goes much further I will rip this thread down.

And the reason is that if I let you two denigrate one another then I have given permission for everyone else to do the same. There is already enough negative crap in the game for a person like myself who would like to see the game gain in respect and popularity to allow you guys to show the world that pool players are a bunch of negative clowns who get off on putting each other down. I just do not see this as the image we need to present to the world of the game.

Please be civil. It is not too much to ask of mature adults.

OK Jerry, Lou is clearly not endowed with enough experience of talking to normal people to realize how many of them do read AZ billiards. If he was then he would understand that relating the claimed comments of the bartender at a known pool room where only two other people were present is violating the private nature of an intimate conversation.

I doubt that Pam, the bartender at The Break, said anything unkind about me to Lou but I will ask her when I come back through and try her chicken wings.

Lou has a way of playing loose with the truth which probably comes from his career as Public Relations officer for the military. We all know the government always tells the unvarnished truth don't we?

Impromptu visit Steve. Catch you on the rebound.

Was a great visit. Met the owners Mark and Terry and played a little fun one hole on Lou's favorite table. Put this spot on your must-see list.

I've played Lou on that table:)

The Break has been around a long time. A great place to play.

I wasn't referring to the pool matching up you did as being hustled. Terry is not a hustler - let me tell you a quick story about him and the short version to not hijack completely.

Terry goes to a local pool room and Dean Deforest is there. Everyone would rank Dean as the bettter player - he went out to California, hung out with Keith, etc and became a solid player. Anyways, Terry asks if anyone will stake Dean to play him. No one would. So Terry tells Dean, get up here, I'll stake you to play me if no one else will. Dean is bewildered but says ok. So they play for a little while and are even. Terry is racking the balls and asks Dean if he wants to raise the bet. Now Dean really doesn't know what to do. Again, Terry is staking Dean to play himself. Terry looks at him and says, when the sucker asks you to raise the bet, don't hesitate, just say yes. They play a little longer and Terry asks him again to raise the bet.

So if you and Terry do play and you lose and you feel you got hustled, I will give you your money back. That was not the inference in my post.

I will say that Lou is out of line for mentioning what an employee there said about you. She was obviously simply responding to her audience and meant no harm. And you are out of line for inferring that she honestly did something wrong and in some sorta way making it seem that her job could be threatened over the bickering between you two.

Funny story. I doubt very very very highly that Pam would have any issue even if she say I was weird. After all I am weird. But even if I wasn't then it still would not be a problem.

I think Lou didn't hear her properly after his hearing was damaged by the 100 decibel rendition of Over The Rainbow blasting his eardrums. :-)

I've followed this a bit and I am looking forward to the match. I give Lou the edge but I am pulling for JB. No offense meant Lou, I just like rooting for the underdog.

I hope this is all in good fun though and no one is really getting mad. I have seen deals like this go horribly wrong before and a person ended up in prison. It started out friendly with a little trash talk and before you knew it, it was out of hand. Best to you both in March.

I think Sandcastle will have to hire a cop to keep the peace and handle traffic duty. I'm sure the place will be mobbed.

I've been away a while

How far does this go back... I think way back to RSB days right?

I haven't read everything lately so can someone tell me what the matchup is ($10k playing what)? I hope it's one pocket, I'd like to watch that.

Good luck to both of you, and for the record I've played you both (briefly) and I can't beat either of you.

No worries. Lou doesn't bark in person. He isn't quick witted enough I think. He needs time to prepare the story.

Yeah sure. :-)

Quit fishing Alex. :-)

Lol that may well be but the person I was talking about was a lot like that, until he reached a limit and shot a guy! I'm not saying that Lou is like that but we all have our breaking point.

Anyhow, I can't wait to see your match, I hope you both have a great time. :)

BTW, can I finally bet some of my Vcash on this match!?! I'm getting sick of seeing that 500 beneath my post #!
