My youngest son and I are knocking balls around in a 130 year old New Zealand Pub in a small town on the west coast (Tasman Sea) of the South Island in Kiwi Country. Here is a 7 1/2' pub-table with 2" balls (15 balls for Eight-Ball) with snooker pockets. $2 NZ a game. Note the "break box and the kitchen" assimilate snooker. Our game takes many forms around the world.

Do they do that thing where you must use a breaking cloth to protect the table?
I saw that in Europe, thought it was interesting that they treat their 'bar-boxes'
a little more seriously than we do over here. They do look like they play tougher.

That type of table is standard in New Zealand and all states in Australia except New South Wales, where they use larger balls and US type pockets.

I have one in my garage, next to my US table.

This table is the standard for 2 shot 8-ball, or Blackball as it is now usually called. The game that guys like Darren Appleton, Karl Boyes, Darryl Peach, Jayson Shaw and world no.1 snooker player from Oz, Neil Robertson started on. It requires accurate shooting to play well.

Terry, My youngest son can lecture the both of us on appropriate attire to match activity, locale, and establishment. He really does understand the connection of respect, individual property rights, and how to advance one's ideas.

Most tables I see have the 1-7/8 balls, with the cue ball being slightly larger at 2 inch.
I have seen also 1-7/8 balls with the cue ball being smaller at 1-3/4 . And the tables are tough to play on compared to the standard US 8 foot table and 2-1/4 balls.

its an english 8ball table with american balls. its fairly common in europe, not just england, but not really surpsised it reached new zealand. they're mostly european.
