Rodney shows up in Reno

Tell you what....I will dumb it down for you. Forget pool. Go down to your local Burger King and order a Whopper. Don't bother anyone and just sit in the corner. Eat your burger and make eye contact with no one. Now in the middle of your meal start talking to yourself and cursing at the moon. In 20 minutes the cops will have you in shackles and in the back of a Crown Vic. Come back in a week and I bet you the manager tells you that you are no longer welcome there. "But why?", you ask. His response is we no longer want your patronage.

Well welcome to Mark's Pool-King and they don't want your business either. No Whopper for Rodney today.

Nick

I beg to differ If we lived in a perfect world than it may be so. But we don't. When a professional is banned from competition to make a living it is very embarrassing. When we have examples throughout the game of impertinence and shallow behavior why is Morris the exception. It must be because of you and your personal feelings. You've had many instances of pros behaving very badly during events. I don't need to name them.. Have they ever been banned?
Rodney is a favored Son of Hawaii. A very loved player from the 50th state. Your taking the exception to banning him and only him is a reflection of you. As far as Im concerned there is a line of players that have been more egregious than any thing that Rodney has done. Yet they continue to play in your events.

Tell you what. You run an event. You have some guy named Earl or something who comes in and yells at all your customers, your staff, and eventually you. , you have some guy named Ronnie come in and dump all the guys betting on him,, some guy named Alex comes in and plays the final to a major event drunk and starts to yell and scream at anyone in his range, you have a whole bunch of Euro fans yelling all kinds of crap to your face while your players are trying to focus, and you get banned from all events while those guys are on the honor rolls.

I guess because its your ball you can do whatever you want.

... CSI will be holding invitational events in the future. Only 16 players. Many will be Asian and European players. There may only be spots for 5 or 6 Americans. Many will be excluded.

According to CSI's AzB front-page announcement a few days ago, the two CSI invitationals coming up in July (10-Ball and 8-Ball) will have 4 North Americans, 4 Europeans, 4 Filipinos, and 4 (other) Asians.

I heard recently he called Mark trying to squash things but Mark was not hearing any of it. I do not know exactly what was said but it seems Rodney did try and reach out.

He reached out. Of course he did. Why would Mark Reach out to him.

Well, he is supposed to be your Big Buddy, why don't you do some asking and see if he is 100% forth right with you.

Maybe for what Rod has said and done, just plain ole reaching Out just isn't good enuff.

Does anyone think for one minute that Rod is sorry for what went down. When criminals get caught and are doing time, they are always sorry, or at least they claim to be.

Yeah right, sorry for doing what they did or sorry for getting caught.

Rodney is in the same position. I doubt that he is sorry for any of his words or actions, just sorry for the consequences.

Rodney dressed up like a big husky girl to try and get in the ladies division of a CSI event. He made it all the way to the finals without anyone noticing but ultimately got barred for life. Anyway, that's what went down. Can't believe you missed it
I find that hard to believe! It sounds like he was there and talked to a few players, then was walked out.
Writing on this thread that he dressed up 'like a husky girl' sounds like someone talking out of their ass, that's how childish rumors get started. I'm only here for the facts.

I have been reading this thread and the other Rodney thread for days.

I used to own a big pool hall in Missouri. I currently run, promote, and play in a lot of tournaments around St Louis and travel to big tournaments for calcuttas and gambling.

When you work very hard to promote a game you love and for little if no benefit at all. it sucks when someone who benefits from your efforts trash talks you even in the slightest. it really sucks when they take it to another level on their own or through social media / friends etc....

A guy showed up to my place where his own friends told him he wasn't welcome. He thought I wouldn't have the stones to turn him away. I did and he went 100 miles home pissed. No freaking chance am I going to spend my time, money, and risk my reputation by letting someone near my customers, guests, friends, and future.

Me and that guy have slowly talked back and forth a bit and after about three years of no bullshit from either side. Time can heal wounds.

For most of the tournaments I run I get a free entry, sometimes a meal or a free hour or two. Most of the tournaments I run are handicapped. So I put up with all of the handicap crap week in and week out which I can handle usually for about $20-$40 I get. However you badmouth the tournament as a whole, the location, my sponsors, the room owner, or get personal? I can't accept that.

Brendan Sullivan.

Correct. You can only take so much b.s.
You put up with a lot of chit for very little when running tourneys. I've done it for 4 years with tours and events. And I can guarantee you I've not made one cent off these events. All of a sudden we stop, then they beg you to restart them, some were the people that gave you chit, laughable some players are, at all levels from amateurs to pros.

I've turned away one pro last year at our bigtyme classic event. This year I will turn away any and all that are banned by CSI, as they were a sponsor to our tour I'm obligated to look out for their best interest. It's mentioned at the top of our tourney thread, so I'm sure they wouldn't even try to call. And to answer some post right above yours, no Rodney is not the only banned player, he's just the only one making a mockery of everything. The others on that list are being quiet, staying out of the limelight and probably hoping one day to make amends and get back in the events.

I can see this carrying over to other regional tours and some independent as well, no one needs the headaches when running events, that they are doing to benefit the players mainly anyhow.

come on. the MC is a totally different thing. euro fans yelling are part of the show. you are right about earl, and drinking shouldn't be part of the professional pool scene whatsoever but alex has his antics even without alcohol, ronnie i have no clue what you're on about (he took a dive? when, if so)

one wrong doesnt make a right anyway. so earl should be banned too if he behaves badly in the future, but i bet he wouldnt if that was a threat hanging over him

His showing up at the event, was the ultimate slap in the face. There is no excuse posible for that action.

Very very very true
He could of stayed home and watched the stream like everyone else.
But since he's a big winner this year with marks 15k tourney that he got staked in, his 5k or so from bonus ball, and 10k mosconi payday, he's loaded and can afford to travel to events to sweat his buddies and party.

Maybe its time he moves on and gets out of the business. <--Sorry sir, but I must ask, How many tournaments have you run, where first place paid $15,000, and another 90K below first ???

Skinny man,...You are exposing yourself as someone who is COMPLETELY clueless, to the way things really are in the pool biz !..If Rodney is your hero/icon..you are in for a big let down !..You may not be seeing much of him, in the best run tournaments in the U.S....And who's fault is that ?

PS..I am on my way to collect my final pay check, from a guy who fired me, just because I called him a "no class, conniving, cheating assh**e" !..What an inconsiderate jerk he is, huh ?

tap tap tap.

if you do the crime, expect to do some time.

If more people who run tournaments had some balls, then Rodney would only have Charlie's events to play in.

Rodney shit all over the big joss event when he was there two or three years ago. He told people before a match that he would never be back.

He has also shit all over Behrman on facebook. Typed that he would never play the US Open again, as long as Behrman was running it. He posted that last year before he played in the US Open again.

If more tournaments would call him on his bs, he might start paying attention.

I'm just telling you that's what I heard from a guy I know that may or may not have been there but has been to Reno before. Trust me, I'm all about the facts too. That's why I'm concentrating all of my resources to getting to the bottom of this. My teams of forensic experts and private eyes are deploying as we speak. I'll update later. Corvette out

You are confusing events. Rodney is banned from all CSI events. Open or otherwise. We don't know if there are others who can not attend open events. CSI will be holding invitational events in the future. Only 16 players. Many will be Asian and European players. There may only be spots for 5 or 6 Americans. Many will be excluded.

Excluding American players will just finish off pro pool as we know it. What about the rising talent in this country? Where will they prove themselves and develop into the stars of tomorrow. Just the wrong thing for the game.

Open events are what defines pool. Post your money and play.
