This is exactly right. We know how honest and truthful JB is, there is no guarantee that he is betting his own. No one in his right mind would believe this, except for his nuthuggers.

If someone has a different opinion than you that does not make them a 'nuthugger' as you have stated. I believe people until I have a reason not to. Lou has made reference to his backers several times and John has said he is betting his own - I believe them both.

Did I say that JB wasn't betting his own? All I asked was how can we be sure. I wasn't questioning JB's word.
For example - There is a pro pool player that is always on Facebook saying he will bet this and bet that. But when it comes time to bet, he never bets his own.

Personally I liked playing with my own money, but only because I didn't like giving some of my winnings away. When I was backed it was because the game was set up for me by the backer. For me it didn't matter if it was my own or your money. Either way you got my best game.
It never matter to me where my opponent got his money. His own or backed.
In a long set like these guys are playing both should get comfortable and play their game within the first few games then the better player will win.

Some used to try that angle with me in the old days (60's-70's), but it back-fired
on them every time. I carried a "Roll" that was heavier than most could match,
so the back-peddling commenced upon my willingness to match any bet.
Man, I miss those days and that dead-stroke.

I'm not a big gambler but I personally would feel more pressure playing with someone else's money than my own. I have a simple rule, don't bet more than you can afford to lose. Scared money rarely wins.

Interesting timing, just when John is busy setting up for the SBE and it's his busiest time.
I have known John for over 12 years (before his nutz were hugged as some are saying) and I can only repeat what I was told by him, he is betting his own.
I do not know Lou, although we met once at DCC in 2003 or 2004. Funny thing is it was John who introduced us
.I hope they both play to their potential so bragging rights will be earned. I'm sure eventually John will reply but I would guess he's a little busy at the moment.
