160K Stakehorse Challenge!

This event isn't happening.

Take out the free rooms, its essentially no money added.

The 16 player bigfoot challenge is 16K added. 1K entry, 3-4th place prize 4K and 2nd-1st 8-16K. That is much more appealing than this 160K stakehorse challenge without the huge entry.

It is a cool idea if you can get 8 backers for that kind of money especially since it is a tournament with no added money.

Nice Try

You get SVB...better think of some fair way for the 8 people to pick there player! Pretty sure this pipe dream ain't gonna happen.

Care to make a $1000 wager?

Greg offered $8,000 of added money for a brand new tournament. I am the one that suggested instead of raising the prize money such a small amount (percentage wise) or dropping the entry to 19,000 to just offer a free room.

So this is definitely a money added tournament, the rooms aren't free and I spent over 1,000 for my room earlier this year.

first 20k is too big for the first year. 10k or even a little less like jay said is much more likely to get it done.

2nd why not let the backers decide how much they are giving the players.

3rd. have a game and rules so that no one is going to be dominant or it isnt going to work more than one year if lucky.

since its a tournament you are going to have to give out 1099's so everyone needs to know that in advance. foreign players will have 30% withheld pending filing returns.

This is really exciting. I hope you can pull it off, John. It would sure give the best players in the world a chance to prepare for a big payday.

For 20K the phillipine guys would rather have action matches in the backroom and not have to pay taxes. Plus in an 8 player field, what if orcullo and busty draw each other round 1 or 2 and they share the same group of backers, how would they feel about that possibility.

they would feel like they have double the chances.

Just some ideas.

- Get 8 backers to put up 20k each.
- Make a list of 16 (or more) players.
- Draw backers' names from a hat to determine draft order.
- Hold a draft and let the backers select a player from the player list.

I thought that most backers had their favorite players that they backed. John has a history with SVB; other backers have players that they have a history in backing. Why would anyone want to put up $20,000 to get into a lottery situation where they might not get to back the player of their choice?

I don't see any backers backing their man to play SVB 10 ball. That is the point. Johnnyt

If the 20K is a detriment in filling 8 spots perhaps making it a lesser amount with a Calcutta added would be a different way of going about it

I wonder what the 10' Diamond availability is like in other countries. I know they are sparse but available here in the US. I am curious if the equipment will have any impact due to the availability for preparation.
