I tend to agree - just seems like this couldn't go on without the other side catching on. But I will say there were some intelligent moves that seemed to not be in Barton's table "personality."

John and I had a short conversation by PM and he told me had been watching Scott Frost 's instructional video and the shot is emphasized by Scott a couple of times as a very powerful weapon.
Anybody that is serious about 1 Pocket and doesn't get that video and watch it about 5 times is really missing out on some great information.
It will help you start thinking like one of the best players on the planet, how can that not be invaluable?
Someone said only about 100 people would know that shot , lol there are probably that many in Phoenix that use it, even an old dog like me saw that it was a hydrogen bomb and promptly put it in the safety file forever.

Lou could not easily see this guy from his chair because of a pillar or pole or something, and Lou did not say anything until he was pretty sure it was going on...showing pretty goog sportsmanship if you ask me.

It is a lose/ lose for Lou. If he says nothing, he is to blame. If he says something, Barton could deny it and claim it was a move on Lou's part to fabricate an accusation.

However, shockingly, I was told Barton admitted to the coaching.

No, John and Eric have an ongoing feud. It had nothing to do with Lou or any of his backers.

Even though I was there I am speculating a bit too because I couldn't hear what was being said but...I'd bet a LOT of money that it wasn't just pats on the back and pep talking.

Things like this sometimes turn out like that game telephone that kids play in school. Its hard to say but from what I watched of the match, which was almost all of it, it seems hard to believe. Not impossible I guess but John took very little time to shoot during the majority of his shot. The people in the booth seemd to know everything that was going on (like when Lous backer fell out of his chair) so was this person out of their view also?

According to Lou, the owner who was in the booth, did notice and said he was waiting for Lou to say something about it.

It is very simple. A pep talk or words of encouragement is acceptable (you can do it, keep your head in it etc). Shoot this shot, don't break up these balls, etc is not acceptable unless they agreed to coaching prior to the match starting. I can't believe people think this is ok to coaching with this type of a huge gambling match between these two guys who don't like each other. The ones calling BS, "might" have an argument, but like I mentioned if John admitted it, depending on the how the question and answer were worded, then it probably happened.

I don't know. People are saying he admitted it, but when it came up in the other thread, John's response was basically "I had a guy in my corner pumping me up. He wasn't giving advice, just saying things like hang in there, nice trap, etc." Seems to me that if he admitted it once with witnesses, he wouldn't be changing his story to something different later on here.

I am sure we will hear more about it later. Members that were there are starting to come forward with what they saw...not necessarily heard, but saw so time will tell on what actually happened which I am sure will be brought to thread after this is done by both sides. Time for the match to start, hope it's a solid finish.
 
its lou's job to ask it be stopped if he doesnt like it. these guys are gambling and seasoned players not newbies. if they let something go on it is an acceptance. and getting some advice isnt wrong. getting specific shot advice regularly is wrong. and its up to lou to have it stopped if that is what was going on. however not likely as some have pointed out.

friends all the time in gambling matches tell the player things like. slow down, your not cutting the balls enough, your shooting too hard, play him safer, dont take so many long shots, etc.

that is part of the game you cant stop that. it is when the player goes to someone and asks what is the shot here. then it is wrong.

I was there right next to Koop, and while I couldnt hear what Dennis was saying I'd bet my left nut he was being coached on specific shots and moves. The holding his hands in front of his mouth and whispering to John and ducking his head behind the pillar to say something from john was actually kinda comical. it looked like he was trying to be sneaky and didn't know how.

We spoke to Lou for a few short minutes last night afterwards and Lou knows/knew he was being coached at that point. He did say he was pissed about it, but more upset about some of the rolls, and the fact that with a max of 3 games left they shoulda finished it yesterday.

To Lou's credit he was as cool as a cuke, and it didnt seem to affect his composure. I know I wouldnt have been as calm if I was shooting with 20k in the middle.

Does it matter? We all know that if you have 5-6 witnesses that saw the guy pull off every bad coaching move in the book, you know it happened. So now he lost with coaching to boot.

I found it odd that he stated he sold all his custom cases at SBE how can it be custom if it wasn't ordered!

Yes it matters. That's why the phrase "pictures or it didn't happen exists."

In the era of smartphones, I find the allegation less credible if none of the witnesses took a video.
