I finally received my South West yesterday. I had originally ordered a BEM nosepiece and Gaboon Ebony points w/white, green and black veneers and wrapless. Needless to say, I was disappointed that Laurie was no longer using ebony. I shot from the hip and ordered a Pau Ferro nosepiece and Purpleheart points w/white, black and blue veneers. The weight came in at 19.25 oz w/ 13mm shafts and Kamui medium tips.

Wow!!

Wow!! you shoot from the hip really well !! That came out sweet, congrats!!

Ordering a new southwest - (i'm up) what should I order?

What should I order?

I'm trying to come up with some unique combos. I'm really bummed about the lack of ebony as an option.....

I'd go with African blackwood with thuya burl points and veneers of white or natural, lt brown and black...JMO!!!!!!

Worth the wait !!

Good looking cue. Mine should be done soon also and was ordered in March of 2003. The wait is certainly long but since no deposit is required you simply put your name on the list and forget about it.

Congratulations, this combo is much more interesting than your original! As for a combo suggestion for Maxeypad2007, I have a suggestion since you do not want to copy this.

I have owned many SW. One that was really stood out will suprise you. I only traded it because it was just under 21 oz. It was a beautiful figured Cocobolo into Cocobolo with a single maple veneer, 6 point. The cue was stunning. It did not have rings but perhaps if doing another I would do the A B rings.

all the best,

Unfortunately those woods are not available to order. It's a shame one has to wait that long and end up not getting what they want.

im sure southwest's hit is phenomenal, but 11 years, for a simple design, is outrageous. why such a long wait?? is his drying time long, his wood curing?? im not knocking them at all, i only hear great things, just curious to know why his wait list is so long. I was on tascarellas list and i got called in a year and a half, by than i had no money bc i was laid off at the time, but still 2 years is understandable.

nice cue...
dont want to hijack the thread....:)
why does laurie not want to use ebony anymore
pm me please

South West

Beautiful cue, and Pau Ferro & PH play awesome! Thanks for showing, enjoy!

I wonder if you sent them ebony if they would build it. But mine will be some kind of cocobolo and maple combo, ebony is rare these days I here, but I'm not a huge fan of it anyways, except with tulipwood. Congrats with your cue, if you like it, that's all that matters

I know 11 years is a long time but now you have one great looking and playing cue. Good luck with it and enjoy playing with it. Your cue came out gorgeous.

Huh...?

Unfortunately those woods are not available to order. It's a shame one has to wait that long and end up not getting what they want.

I Thought the same thing....WoW...I wouldn't or couldn't wait 11 years for a cue
and Like Jamie said, to wait that Long and have to settle for something other than your First choice is Just Sad. I'm sure your Happy with getting anything after 11 years but
to me you Deserve to get your First choice not have to be satisfied with your second.

Just my 2 Cents

Good Luck With It

Paul
