best guess from info i received on another forum is Louro Preto
sherm thought it may be chechen
for now, i'll just call it brown stufff

Looks more like Malaysian blackwood to me. Could be Lauro Preto but is very dark for that, and woulda smelled like bocote as you cut it.

Those snake Juma are really cool! But I think the best part about this cue and what sets this apart from others is your ringwork, it's just so mesmerizing looking at them!

I agree with Eric...my Lauro Preto cue is not dark like that either. And mine is loaded with little birdseyes. As a playing wood...plays ridiculously well!

I was referring to the finished pic. The raw pic looks about like mine looks after the finish was applied. With that said...like bocote and some rosewoods...I am sure they come in all shades. Still a stunning cue...everything on it works!
