Help for my dream

Asking for handouts is the hallmark of a pro pool player and therefore you are well on your way. I think you need to hustle more or get a part time job. Pool is a hobby for all but maybe 20 guys in the US. I go to big events but I work my ass off to be able to afford to travel. Sometimes I sleep in my car...gonna play all night anyway.

I don't see why everyone is so amazed at this. We've had US Open Champions and Hall of Famers asking for handouts here, why is it surprising that others might wanna give it a try?

I'd love someone to finance my dreams, too, sigh....

It is not so much what he tried to do, but he did it so badly. I actually had never heard of "Crowd funding" which is what he was trying to do is called. I just spent some time on line and youtube learning something about it. It actually can work even for something as dumb as what he wanted to do but it has to be done right.

He never took the time to learn how to do it right, he was lazy. He needed at least a week of study and the production of a video of him playing pool and maybe even interviews with friends and fans telling us who he is and why he deserves this. He should of shown his wife and child if he has one as well.

Maybe showed us what he does for a living and he is a worthwhile member of his community. You need a real professional pitch if you want total strangers to just give you money. People are generally pretty generous for the most part. Giving in fact can make one feel good.

My wife and I give away money all the time. It's just us, we have no children and we are old. I was not kidding when I told him in one of my posts to give me his best pitch for why I should send him money, but he never did.

And BHR........be careful out there.......the pavement gods could reach up and touch you ..........so go take a long ride...........often.

Sounds like you are wishing physical harm to come to me by way of a Motor Cycle accident.

Now, if one were to use the word Pathetic, it would be more appropriately applied to yourself.

With all those guns and concealed carry permits that you brag about, its funny that you constantly shoot yourself in the foot in many of your long winded posts. But never have I wished harm to come to you in any form.

Its like when you see a retarded person on the street. You feel bad for them obviously, and think, "I'm glad I'm not like them". Thats what I think when I read any of your posts.

Doesn't surprise me tho, Mr. Talks Much, Says Nothing.

So true. Even people collecting for Red Cross or Doctors without borders will show you a picture of a crying, starving child or something.

You could have made a movie, like some have suggested. Doesn't cost a lot of money or time, but it would show some effort. You could have written a story on how you ended up needing donations to play in tournaments. I wouldn't even have to be entirely true, but preferably well written. A panhandling girl I saw a couple of days ago had made a really nice cardboard sign, with beautiful penmanship (suspiciously good actually, lol). It made her stand out from the others, and of course she got some money and the others didn't.

Truthfully, maybe the video wouldn't have made a huge difference to the donations from people here, many of which are potential world beaters in their own minds. What would have changed was their perception of you. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.
Google crowd funding it is pretty interesting. He needed to do a study and some work before attempting it. I don't think the one he chose is that good either. You can't just donate, they collect a lot of personal information from the one giving money. Myself, I would have clicked off as soon as they strarted obvious information collecting. I don't think they even take paypal and I would never give them bank or credit card info. He was sunk before he even started.

I swore I would not look at this thread again, but here I am. I was curious if Mr Dix would ever get around to making a sincere effort for the backing this dream. He has not, which leads me to conclude he is pulling everyone's leg with his request.

Not only is he graveling for a handout to fulfill his dream which will reward him financially, he has made no overture on paying back the grubstake with interest/profit. I understand the concept of a walking stick that you never get back because it is given to a guy you busted, but to stake a guy for his own good time absurd.

I used to be a very good poker player. My dream would be to win the WSOP NLH $10K buy in. Could you imagine me starting a thread begging for donations to go to Vegas to fulfill my dream with no planned payout for my supporters? That will never happen, however, this is the same.

I believe Mr Dix is just pokin a little fun.

BTW: I plan to take off my prosthesis and go up to the grocery store with a coffee cup and bell to beg some money to get new headers for my Ferrari which will be in the back lot.

Moet 1977, you sound like a wonderful person. I'm very impressed with your generosity. I hope Mr. Dix is able to work something out with you. It seems like it can work. At least it's a foot in the door to his dream.:)

Very well done Sir! Perhaps the post here at AZ may pay off after all. And it appears Mr. Dix does have some game, with a decent draw at DCC, he could probably finish in the money and possibly do quite well.

And you go out of your way to piss on my boots all the time and show really bad karma so do be careful son....our battles will continue.
