Billy Incardona - Short Rant

Thanks

I find it disrespectful to Billy that some of you have continued to lash out and beg for attention even after his heart felt apologetic response.

Billy didn't owe you an apology in the first place. This forum is out of order and owes Mr. Incardona an apology.

First I would like say I agree with you Mr. Incardona does not owe anyone an apology. Second, that video is Hilarious !

Putter? .......

careful CJ, we don't want everyone here to think Karsten Solheim was racist too.....

First I am a Chinese American. If I had took seriously all the lame azz race based jokes about my people, my culture, my family, etc I would need medication. I dont. I think of the source.

Second I am in the voice game. I was the voice of Storm Shadow in GI Joe, did the lead in World of Warcraft and Blizzards new game Heroes of the Storm, Did hundreds of animation like Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, Avatar, Kung Fu Panda, etc. etc. Ive messed up a hundreds of times in my career. Offending unknowingly but corrected myself. When someone puts a microphone in front of you with thousands of people listening it is scary. It takes self confidence to carry you through.
What I find interesting is people taking this contradiction seriously and commenting in a very thoughtful way. In the past you would just be called "sensitive" and "hater of free speech".
What I really want to say though is that Billy Incardona is not only a great commentator but a great asset and treasure to the pool world. And if you dont recognize that I feel sorry for you. As well I feel so much about men like Danny Diliberto. THese guys are champions and are trying to give to the pool world what they have gotten of it. Have some respect. Are they human? Yes! We dont want them to be anything but.
They make mistakes. Yes but champions want to make adjustments and corrections to be better. Billy I believe is not only a great player and commentator but a great human being as well.
His apology showed it.

I have a bone to pick with several of the posters on here....

The first one is Lou... I would like you to name names and not allude to who is drinking in the booth... I have heard this before and I can 100% guarantee you that NONE of the Accu-Stats commentators step into the booth with alcoholic beverages and none have stepped into the booth after imbibing in the last few years I have been there... I know this because at DCC Danny refuses to do matches after the hall of fame dinner because he has some wine with his friends and fellow inductees. Billy Gibbs has declined after a single beer... Jim Wych?... Billy I?... Mark Wilson??
Dave Maddux??? Not on your life is that going on with any of those commentators......

As for old dumb ass... sorry word association got me there... kind of like pong going with ping when you draw a blank... You tell an asian he has no credibility in assuming why Billy said what he did while you say it's because the player was asian?? Are you an asian clairvoyant?? I think you can see why word association got me too....

Saying Danny D. has lapsed into senility is laughable and I hope you post your name when you say that and actually know the man... His wits are still as quick as his jab and I would love to point you out so he can show you either....

Billy I is the voice of Accu-Stats for a reason... He is the best in the business and if he hurt your sensitivities you need to walk into the Living room and punch your momma or your wife dead in the mouth for turning you into a mangina..... You might want to put your big girl panties on first tho...

This is pool mister.. We have color... We have characters... And we don't need the PC police... If you don't like it go pick another sport to watch.. Maybe polo or ballet will be more suited to you..

Billy has came on and explained himself.. If that's not enough for you.. once again.. go pound sand......

Chris AND there is MY rant......

Billy Incardona is a classy guy, IMO. He is a great asset to the pool world. Hope to keep hearing more from you in the future Mr. Incardona, and thanks for your contibutions to pool.

Congratulations to Yobagua and The Renfro. Your callouts are more specific than my generalization. This thread has wandered from a specific comment to quality of announcing. Over 20 plus years dating back to VHS I have learned so much from Billy's table analysis that I owe him a lesson fee. I am disappointed this thread was ever started because there could be no positive outcome. This thread has really run its course and should be closed out so everyone can evaluate your own participation.

It's great you can vouch for Accu-Stats.

But, as you well know, there are many streamers out there nowadays, not just Accu-Stats. And, having been around a bit, I have seen and heard (mit my own two peepers and ears) guys drinking in the booth. Some sound worse than others.

There's nothing to be gained by naming names. You say it's not at Accu-Sats and I believe you. I expect that you will believe me if somehow you have missed it for yourself.

Thank you Punter for your kind words. I remember you by the avatar you once used of my good friend, Stu Ungar. Stu and I were very close and i miss him very much. Thx again.

Lou, I have always respected you for your straight forwardness and your fairness when debating. I have done commentary on Imo more matches than any one and I can'recall any one drinking while in the booth other than the time Keith McCreedy did. However at that time it was the great Keith McCreedy and he was just being him, the funniest coolest guy in pool and no one cared including myself and Pat. Other than that one time I cant remember that ever happening.

Have a good day Lou

What a small world .. Stu and I were friends as well, or I guess I should say as much as a friend that he would allow anyone to be.

We were originally from the same neck of the woods and came to Vegas to seek our fortunes. The best I ever saw of Stu was when his daughter used to come to town to visit him. Man did he love that little girl ... only thing I ever saw that sobered him up.

Thanks for remembering a truly great player, Billy

If there's a poker table in Heaven they are all in trouble ... Rest in peace Stu.

A complicated world we live in today

Been dodging posting here to let the thread die but obviously it still has pages to go so here is my two-bits worth, adjusted for taxes and inflation.

Live broadcasters, those people who went to school and make a living at it, news people, weather people, sports booth people, they all step in it sometimes. That is why "live" usually has from a few second to a ninety second delay to give the editors time to bleep or change to something else. Despite the skills some of the pool commentators have in the booth they are not professional broadcasters, have no training for it, and certainly don't derive enough income from it for it to be a big focus of their lives.

Politicians and people in the public eye say ridiculous crap all the time. Anyone really believe "cracker" isn't racist when applied to a person yet any hint of racism against another color, ethnic group, or political group is? Racism is a much abused word now. It isn't enough that something is in bad taste, no today everyone has to play the race card. Buncha racist bastards worldwide referring to people from south Louisiana as Cajuns. That distinguishes us from the rest of the world and in doing that people are racist!

Oh, I know you meant well when you said it but now I have decided to be offended. I will be deeply offended if you use "c-word" when speaking of us too, that is already taken! Matter of fact, any word substituted for an unacceptable word means the same thing and is equally offensive! Mentioning the area I have lived my life in when referring to me is distinguishing me from the rest of the world, that offends me too. As a matter of fact, my name gives some indications of my origins so I don't expect anyone but a bunch of racist dirt bags to use it either!

Decades ago when many TV sets were still black and white I watched a boxing match. The geniuses making such decisions had let the boxers both wear black trunks, one with silver maybe, the other with white trim. On a black and white monitor there was no way to tell the colors of the trunks apart. The boxers happened to be a dark black skinned person and one that was palest white from Europe but the men in the booth were terribly frustrated. They couldn't mention race even then so there was just no way to tell these boxers apart! Anything they said could be career limiting. Hilarious to listen to them trying to speak fast enough as the boxers circled and weaved that "the one on the right" and "the one on the left" meant something.

People that want to be offended will always find or imagine a reason to be offended. Nothing offends some people. Most will find a middle ground and not be ridiculous about it. Nothing sillier than the idea it is fine for some people to say a word but not others. If you see or hear the word you have to check who said it before deciding if you are offended to the very core of your soul or it's cool, it empowers the user to say that word!

We can enjoy the best commentating available for pool or we can carefully listen for any suggestion of impropriety to take offense at. We can accept an apology or be so deeply offended that only a first class lynching is adequate to address the wrong. OH MY GOD!! I just typed lynching. Forgot that now connotes racism too. Boil me in oil!(extra virgin olive oil, I'm half Italian) Damn the racism is pouring out of me now, the Italian crack is half OK though and I can only be half offended being half Italian. Being mostly American mutt some things offend me 12.5% some only as little as 3.125%. Slamming people from the US and the USA offends me 100%. Complicated world we live in, ain't it?

I have many stories that are very imteresting about the great Stu Ungar. We vacationed together, went on the road together (great memories) and gambled together, mostly against one another. We were the best of friends but we gambled with one as nother all the time either playing back gammon, Gin Rummy, shooting basket ball, and even playing pool. Stu gambled with every one and any one except Philly a mob boss that he was with from NY. Like I said I have a million stories.

Justin,

Instead of taking these opinions as "commentator hate", why not treat them as potentially valuable customer feedback that you and CSI can utilize to produce a better product?

Good advice, I hope it is taken as such.

Just thought I would add my $.02. The couple of times I have heard Bill commentate he seemed like a competent announcer who added color to the commentary. I don't remember any off color remarks and I didn't witness the incident being discussed. That being said, this world is too PC. People do make unconscious remarks that could hurt a segment of their audience. If there was a history of this type of crap (colorful remark), I would say this thread is warranted. Give the guy a break and let's move on.

Mr. Incardona;

Will you please share one of your favorites?

best,

Im still in LasVegas leaving on the 23rd but would like to visit with Justin at TAR maybe to do a little commentary before I leave if he's still interested in having me. When I return home to Dallas I am looking forward in posting more on how I really feel about all the people that contributed to this thread. Almost 8,000 hits..very interesting. For some reason I think you guys will still be debating this incident, but maybe not.:)

Bill Incardona

Bring back Billy!

Seriously, if they don't let you commentate for them anymore then that is insane.
