Seriously CSI? Forfeits bring losers back?

Yeah, the more I think about it the more I start to agree with y'all. The whole thing is messed up. Reasons like this are really why pool is a joke haha. Still can't believe ralf did this. I also think there was something fishy about how Dennis played those last few racks. It's almost like Dennis stuck it to svb on purpose. But we'll never know.

Totally agree about Dennis. Any body that plays at there level should know how shoot. Ralf should of been kicking. Wtf

It's a absolute joke. With all the things this sport is needing, we need this...?

This is one of the biggest blunders in recent years. Mark should should be ashamed.
I'm beginning to see a pattern here.... first Rocket, now this...?

Hey Ko bro's..... welcome to american pool.

:o

That's exactly what it is. this is their tourney so they can do whatever they want, so sad.
And nobody can say shit because hey, it's free money for you anyway, I invited you here, so you shut up and play.

Get used to it. As they say absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Promoters like this have no integrity.

What a joke.

This is a Complete Joke

I can't believe this happened. I paid $400 for a VIP seat to watch the best players in the world play in a fair tournament in Las Vegas. True, I left after the 10-ball event because watching world class players play 8-ball is a travesty since they will either run out or be snookered on the break and the other guy will run out but integrity is integrity and this is smelling mighty foul.

If American players suck so badly that they can't beat these Chinese guys fair and square then that's just the way it is. Don't keep shoving Van Boening back in there until he finally beats the guy and then claim superiority. Ko should have played his brother if Ralph had to bail. One has to ask why sign up for a tournament you can't finish. The tournament isn't running behind schedule the finals were always scheduled to happen at 7pm. If your flight is at 7pm doesn't that mean that you're never going to be able to play in the finals and that this problem was know from the start. If this was known from the start and today both Ralph and Thorsten had to leave why not start today's matches at 9:00AM instead of 11:00AM. That would have given Ralph and Thorsten plenty of time to get to the airport.

Pool sucks in America and this just makes it suck that much worse. Unbelievable.

Totally Agree, CSI should be ashamed.
I wish Ko refused to play then they probably would have given Shane a BYE, Ha Ha Ha

FYI...I spoke with Thorston. He is also going to China and booked himself on a midnight flight out of Vegas. Ralf could have done the same. Most of these players are headed to China when these are done.

SO WHAT ???
If the two KO brothers earned their way to the finals, just say great shooting, period !!!

"It's really a lose lose and looks bad on no one but ralf."<------------ Are you joking ?
This looks awful for CSI, when a person is out of a tournament their out.

This is a "This is my tournament and I can do what I want" move.
They lose all respect from me.

Sad but true...

Defining moment?

something similar happened at one of the ESPN tournaments in Orlando in the 90's.

Someone forfeited and they stuck someone in his place who had already been knocked out for 'TV Reasons' I think Earl was involved an the forfeit-er or substitute.

Didn't ralph miss a match around two years ago vs shane in vegas because of a car accident or something.

Don't you know these guys walk on water?
But they want to do good for pool, change the image.
They should have brought Rodney in to play.
What is Shane, a puppet? Where is his integrity?

If I were Ko I would have forfeited ,never to return to this venue. If I were any of the Taiwan players, or any player for that matter I would not come back.
I wonder why so many players are in Memphis

If they decide to reply to any of this you can bet you will hear, I love all these railbirds with opinions, you don't know anything.

This was such a joke.

Csi set the rules and ralf won his group. Then he forfeited his match. Ko should have advanced and putting shane back in was stupid. They pulled a move on the taiwanese. Believe me they wernt happy about the situation.

And this was not a free roll tournament the players had to pay 1k to play both tournaments. Also they were required to attend 1 hr a day mandatory free lessons for the amateurs. I believe they did this for 5 or 6 days. Considering pros usually charge 50-150 dollars an hour for lessons. They ended up paying a lot more for a BS tournament.

Everyone so what mark griffin says or else you won't get invited next year. Heck mark may even make it a challenge match next year svb vs his 2nd favorite.

Shame on SVB for Even agreeing to playing. Imagine if it happened to him. He'd throw a fit.

I can't find the official rules....but

FWIW

Based upon my knowledge and experience, in most two stage tournaments, in the event that a group qualifier is not able to continue to the next stage (for injury, disqualification, etc...) it is quite common to advance the next highest group finisher.

This is not the first time it has happened. I agree that in a single or double elimination tournament, a knockout means you're out. But this is generally not the case in Two stage tournaments.

I've seen this happen in soccer, badminton, and martial arts tourneys.

Having said this, the players are entitled to play under whatever rules were stated or implied at the beginning.

Something doesn't sound right here.

I think everybody should give Mark and Co. the benefit of the doubt at least until he has a chance to explain his decision, which he has been known to do.

I know that Mark likes Shane - or at least likes the way Shane handles himself but I don't think that necessarily means he would go out of his way to screw someone else in order to promote him.

I haven't had a chance to watch any of this tournament (I've just been too busy) but being that this is a different format than we are all used to is there a chance that Shane would have been the next man up so to speak if someone was unable to play? Or -- someone mentioned that Dennis may not have taken his match too seriously, which we have seen before (think of the 14.1 final at Derby a couple years back), and this may have negatively affected Shane's chances. Could that have played into Mark's decision?

I really don't know but we may want to hold off a little bit before we get the posse together, especially since Mark is a forum member.

I'm interested in hearing what he has to say about this matter.
