OK so here is the deal.
There was a Pool Room called "Club Charleston" that recently went out of business.
I only went there a few times because all the tables had yellow felt and I thought the owner was kind of a dick..lol

Fast forward to last night at the BCA I ran into a very good local player "Gary Onomura"
tells me that he (I believe he also has a partner) has bought the old Club Charleston (which by the way will have a new name I suggested "Sin City Billiards" but who knows what it will be)
They are currently remodeling and should open in a few weeks.
Gary told me that the room will have
1. 8 Diamond Bar tables
2. 9 Diamond Big tables
3. 1 6' X 12' Snooker table (set up for Golf)
4. Newly remodeled bathrooms with all new fixtures
5. Full Bar
6. Kitchen (including Sushi)
7. Video Poker machines
8. NO SMOKING  (there will be a smoking area but not around the tables)

This is great news !!!! As long as they give the place a complete and thorough washing.

Look out Pool Sharks - Your turf is being invaded. :p

The old joint was full of furniture tables and they played like crap. They will have, I think, the only golf table in town, so that table will be a nice money maker.

This will be the 5th big room in town now. Pool is alive and well in Vegas - why are these business closing everywhere else?

Thanks for the post man.

Good rolls

Cue Club currently has the only Golf table in town so it will be a welcome addition/competition for the Golf game.

Oh the Cue Club ... I didn't know because I stopped going there some time ago. Unfortunately the neighborhood, and the plaza that contains the Cue Club have really gone down hill.

No fault of the business, but myself, and several other players I know, have stopped going there for any reason - after dark walking to your ride in the parking lot is a little sketchy. Unless you are prepared to draw and fire just stay away from this area.

This is why all the New Car dealers have fled from the area, it's a shame really, 12 years ago it was a completely different story.

If I see you at the new Club Charleston I'll but you a drink and we can play some.

Hey Jim thanks for the intel... Aside from everything you noted above the principals also mentioned that weekly tournaments are going to be enforced. I believe 8, 9 & 1P or 10B every week $150 added. This is great as the town lost all it's Big Table Local Tourneys...

Randyg and I did one of our 3-day pool schools at Club Charleston a couple of years ago. The description was not innaccurate, but we found the owner to be easy to deal with. We had a great school with 8 students. Perhaps we'll go back and see if we can work with the new owners to host another pool school!

Gary is a nice guy and a very good player I'm sure you will find him easy to work with when hashing out any details to host a 3-day pool school.

Thanks for the heads-up. I look forward to paying a visit on my return to Vegas, possibly in a couple of months.

Went to check out a new place a few years back. Nice people, OK rates, furniture tables. The youngster from behind the counter came play with me awhile and we shot a little one pocket. Banks were so far off from any Diamond or Gold Crown that I instantly decided I wasn't going to try to adjust to that table.

Three or four fellows my age had wandered over to watch anyway and old habits die hard. As bad as I play these days I wasn't fixing to reveal what little speed I had. Another good reason to bang banks into rails.

I did wish them luck but there was no way pool hall regulars were gonna hang there. They had to make it on leagues and youngsters dating. They might have made it six months, don't think they made it a year. Decent location, leasing Diamonds might have made the difference.

Just when I'm leaving, someone opens a smoke free pool room. That's why I quit, too much smoke. I hear that North Carolina is smoke free. We will see.

Gary's a great guy and I'm looking forward to his grand opening. I think we've already started to form his first league team.

Hopes this place does better than it used to.

New Name
New Owners (that are good pool players)
All new Diamond tables w/860 cloth vs. home furniture grade tables
New balls & ball polishing machines
Committed to having someone there to wipe down the rails and brush down the cloth after each use.
Commitment to keeping the bathrooms stocked & spotless, currently remodeling the bathrooms with brand new fixtures.
ETC...........................................

Proposed Name for New Room

Hi Guys!

My wife Felisa has an excellent suggestion for the name of Gary's new room.

Pure Stroke!

What do you guys think?

It is in NC. One hall appealed and took it to the state supreme court and lost. Bank on it! Look me up if you're near Greensboro.

BTW, where is this "re-newed" Vegas hall located?
