:: What's the Best Portable Tip Tool? ::

There is an exception to every rule. Everything Cuetec is trash EXCEPT there tip tool lol I've had one for about 8 years I think and it works great.

To shape a new tip put it on the floor ...hold it between your feet so it doesn't move. put the tip down in it and spin it between your hands like your trying to start a fire. gets the job done quick.

Cuetec's LD R360 shaft is a solid choice and no where near "trash".

Humble opinion

ArizonaPete and bbb and I all agree on the same two tools:

Joel Pope's last4ever

and

Willard shaper

these are all you would need.

in my humble opinion. ;)

I'm a fan of the It's George tool. Mine is at least 15-20+ years old and it looks and functions like new, they simply do not wear out. I love the weight
of the tool when using it as a tapper. The only negatives I can think of is the tip radius portion is more dime shaped for you nickel radius lovers, the abrasive
is pretty aggressive. I prefer harder tips so for me this is an added benefit.
I also own a Willards and find the abrasive just a little less aggressive than desired and clogs quickly if your using it to shape a tip, but it works fine as a quick scuffer,
there's no tapper on it though.

They're only $19.95 at my local poolhall. At $24.95 I still think they are worth the cost. Like everything else, opinions will vary and mine are no exception. YMMV

Bought me one of these a few months ago off a site called Billiards Heaven. It's only 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" and is called the Morakami Gator Grip Pool Cue Tip Shaper Scruffer Tool. $14.95.

I really like it.

I have the Ultimate Tip Tool and I like it well enough. Seems like you have to work it pretty hard to shape a new tip though. I also have the Cuetec chalk holder which is great because the stick doesn't fall out of your pocket because it's pretty big and it has a tip pick in it which I like better than using a tapper.

A 1.5" x 1.5" Piece of 220 Grit Sandpaper, and a New Dollar Bill. Sandpaper is a great tip rougher upper, and the Dollar Bill works great as a Burnisher.

This is assuming you Tip is in a proper shape.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys, am going to try to work with Joel on a tip tool to try out.

Do keep them recommendations coming :)
