he did nothing wrong, told them his real name and that he is a bca master player.
He lost his first match to someone then won a few matches.
Turns up the next day and gets disqualified.
The td ends up winning the tournament.
go back to sleep sir-

Take a look at the names and the levels and that should give you a good idea of the difference.

But skip over the fact that they labeled Stalev as an "open" cause LOL to that
How did Tony dog that?- He knows Stalev for more than a decade as does anyone else that follows pool at all. Stalev got 17th in the World 9 Ball in 2000!
Gail Glazebrook Robles said:I do the points updating for the tour, not Tony, so I mis-rated Stalev .... However, after his match with Tony in the 14.1 World Tournament, I'm certainly familiar with him now!

Sums it up quite nicely..
Especially when you consider the absolute best response from those defending the TD in this is:
Good morning colonial cousins..
I am an infrequent poster but have been on and off here a bit. Some know that I am based in England and am primarily an E8B player. I like watching AP on the interweb and also follow some of my former E8B buddies smashing you lot at your own game over there
A quick search through my posts will show all of this. A quick search will also show I have form as a TD, commentator, backer, governing body committee member, blah blah blah though retired from the game completely about 8 years ago and only came back in about 18 months ago.
I trust this will be sufficient for those who consider I have registered this username for the sole purpose of defending the player.
I saw Danny tonight at an E8B tournament in London, England - for the first time in about 8/9 years.
He told me about this event and he also told me about this thread.
I did have a load of posts I was going to reply to but I am not going to bother. I will make a few simple points.
In the 15 or so years I have known him, I have never ever heard of or experienced any kind of behaviour that is less than honourable on the part of Danny at any point. Ever.
Any tournament of mine he has played in I have never ever had a problem.
Danny did not hide his identity. Danny Gokhul is not a run of the mill name. It strikes me as easy to research.
Danny has never played professional E8B.
I know nothing of the TD for this tournament, except that he went on to win the tournament.
It is entirely possible to play up and down in ability/standard/speed. "If horses ran to form, we would all be millionaires".
The TD claims to have had 25 years of experience in pool but "appears" to have failed convincingly in his duty to "weed out" a distinctive looking little foreign looking chap with a London accent and a foreign name - which he gave honestly. Perhaps another 25 years of experience will give him the skill set he needs to get past this cunning disguise employed by the player.
My view is that the player felt he was wronged and had legitimate grounds for complaint. The tournament director thought he was being conned and felt he had legitimate grounds for complaint.
Both may have been right. Both may have been wrong.
It may be possible that neither the player nor the TD were dishonest.
I think some of the posts, coming from people that appear not to know either the player, the TD and were not even in the same state as the tournament let alone actually at the tournament are disgusting.
Additionally, I heard a lot about Cleary and hos good work with TAR etc but pretty appalled by his total disregard for accurate information and posts during this thread. Most people just want to be informed on an issue that happened and as soon as more facts come out he only replies with pictures, videos and now he doesn't care. But he cared enough to bombard the thread.
Not the type of guy I had envisaged.

on another note
why do you feel like this needs to keep going?its over
Why cant everyone just Drop this subject........Nobody winsOne to new busness
I get emails when there are replies. You will notice I have only posted on it infrequently since.
Perhaps you need to be reminded of my position on this matter from my very first post:

its still going cause people are still trying to ruin dannys rep
- he told TD his real name and speed as did others there
- he has beat klatt on a valley table a few years ago, great achievement but has scott simonnetii never beat a pro player? we know he has
- danny loses first match and comes through losers nobody has an issue. Td has to play danny so chucks him out and wins own tournament chopping it up with his mates
surprising so many apparent pool enthusiasts don't have an issue with this.
PS the race thing came from the people in the room if you read the comments people told Dany that's terrible that's never happened before and been better players thana you, can only imagine race played apart. whether that true or not that is where it came from

Hey Danny. My name is Scott Simonetti and I was the TD that gave you your money back and said you could not continue. I did not "decide" that you play to good. I found out you you play open/pro speed on AZBILLIARDS. This was an ABCD level tournament. Whoever told you about this tournament should have warned you that I protect the tournament regulars and that if I find out that a player is trying to "sneak" in they will be thrown out. I understand that you would be unhappy. Also understand that none of the players complained or cried about you like you are crying now... It was my decision based on the info about your speed in these forums. If for one second I thought you would accuse me of making race an issue or that I run an unfair tournament I would have keep your entry fee and then I guess things would have been "even worse." When I have an Open/Pro event you are more than welcome to play and hope you do....I will supply the tissues

To be honest I have only read one inappropriate comment about Danny, and that was some low class comment about a taxi driver that clearly was meant to be cute, but wasn't.

Voice, please don't act as if you were neutral the whole time. You were not, you defended the guy and what he did. Yet, you have no reasoning as to why he entered. The only point you made was that he used his real name, but a fake name would be too risky. This way if his plan backfired, he could still play the oblivious card. Just that, it aint working. There isn't much reputation left to salvage. The guy didn't even have to scope out the room to know he was the best player there. All he had to see or hear was ABCD, and its stealing for him. You really think he didnt know that? If Hellen Keller ever played open speed, she would have known that too.
