Castle Billiards NJ, throw player out for being too good

You know why Danny beat Klatt, because he wasn't afraid to play. Danny steps up in any tourney simply because he has a passion for pool and wants to challenge himself.

I'm not scared to play Klatt either. I'm looking for backers...

Are you amending your earlier position that the player some how cheated?

If your position remains that he cheated.. Please explain how?

I already explained that. Your voice has no reason. Also, I don't care… Hopefully he doesn't come back.

Also, you're an insane person.

Can you explain why these two players "vouched for him" into their own local tournament when they didn't really know him?

They saw him play a weaker player, he lost… they assumed he wasn't that good.

Could you give them a call or an email and get a direct quote on this issue please?

No… why? because..

1. It's over
2. He's not coming back
3. I don't care

Hi there,

I can only deal with one point, as the the following points are self explanatory..

I did not know this was an invite event. Leaving that aside, I asked a question at post 156 (http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4864449&postcount=156) regarding what "open" meant. I received two replies:

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4864462&postcount=157

and

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4864481&postcount=158

Post 158 lists five standards of ability - in descending order:

Grand Master
Master
Advanced Intermediate
Open
Leisure/Standard

Your position is that open players are not invited yet the player declared himself as a master standard player. Can you explain this?

BCA standards simply don't mesh with tournament ranks. Here, open players are 1 step below pro.... and yes it is a rank. So if Danny truly wanted to challenge himself, he should have entered an open/pro event instead.

I play on the IPA tour. I also play on the Welsh tour. In addition, I play in some local comps to me geographically. On Tuesday (where I saw Danny) I entered a £10 one frame suicide tournament in the city of London (mostly I was on the piss lol)

In that weird and wonderful event there were six former professionals/internationals/international tour players and a load of pub hackers.

Some of these are serious, some are for practise and some are simply for fun.

But that is just me..

It could be he was int he area and meeting up with friends who advised they were going in to this comp and invited him to go along with them.

I honestly don't know.

I have made my point and posted replies on behalf of Danny where they were requested.

I'm sorry if people still think he was chiseling. In my experiences of him (for the first 7/8 of the last 15 years) he was not a cheat, chiseler (british pool slang for one who attempts to rob prize money) of any kind.

It would surprise me to hear that he has suddenly changed.

I'm no expert in these matters but I would have thought that a genuine desire to chisel the event would, I would guess, begin with a name change at least.. ;)

Thank you for making my point Mr Cleary ;)

At best, he did not understand the rules before he entered. Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt on that, why would he be upset after being disqualified? And then blame the director for doing his job? Racism even?

Based on his actions before and after the event, its tough for me to consider him a stand up guy. I didn't play but it could have been me he knocked out of the event, and I would be pissed.

You cared enough to post that you don't care. ;)

You will never beat a Brit when it comes to irony or sarcasm young man. Waste of time trying.

I guess I am missing something..... If he is really passionate about pool and wants to challenge himself why is he playing in an ABCD tournament?

It is rather obvious by now that he skilled far above that level of play. (and Bravo to him for that)

He comes to the states each year to catch up with friends across the country. If there is a tourney in the area and no other plans, he'll get in. Simple as that.

Generally starts in California at Hard Times, then scoots over to Vegas for BCA Master. Usually tries to make it to the midwest for the Carom Room Classic, etc.

He doesn't come here to rob tourneys. Was in the area, stated he was a BCA Master, and TD says he's good to sign up. Based on that, how would he know this tourney wouldn't be a challenge?

Easy money is always good, returning home with more than you led with is better.
Nobody who plays at that level is unaware of that.

He did nothing wrong, told them his real name and that he is a BCA master player.
He lost his first match to someone then won a few matches.
Turns up the next day and gets disqualified.
The TD ends up winning the tournament.

Excuse me voice,
please dont start with the brit/american thing i promise you youre not that witty.more importantly this issue was settled until you brought it up again and possibly are causing your guy danny more trouble than good.he got into a local tournament they found out that he probably didnt belong there and released him.good poolrooms and tournament directors protect their local players not people passing through(nothing personal to danny or anyone else its just the way we do it in the northeast).you re welcome to your opinion but it shows more class to drop it and realize you wont change anything, its over and nobody is about to change sides.but keep it up and maybe another gentleman wants to go to a local tourney while on vacation or visiting and the tournament director remembers this extremely long thread and decides its not worth it.

And one other item scott simonetti has been a friend for 20 plus years,he wasnt a tournament director he is/was a player.trying to put on some events to help promote the sport and god forbid make a few bucks for castle...
So lets drop the internet pontification
