I know Mike has stated that he has to work on his mental/emotion aspect of pool, but you simply cannot deny his talent. This is one of the most remarkable performance in rotation I've seen so far for 2014. I was in amazement the entire time watching this.

Despite all the negative things that are said about him, he's still one of my favorite players, and it should be him against Shane in a race to 100 this weekend.

In some of the games he breaks and sinks 5 balls and a shot on the lowest ball...

I know he's in his homeroom and he's comfortable, but still, you gotta be impressed with this match.

Now back to regularly scheduled program...

Good luck to Mike Dechaine in the future! Hope he wins the upcoming US Open.

Mike is a great player but did you see when he played shaw in a tar match ?

Yeah I did, but I'm still convinced that Mike is the overall better rotation player. Shaw is the straightest shooter I've ever seen but sometimes his position is kinda suspect. Mike also shoots straight with the same firepower but manages to get position too.

But I digress; pool is never a static environment and Shaw can beat Mike on any given day and vice versa.

Is he proud of himself for cheating by pattern racking?

agree with that. Shaw is one of best shot makers/shooters now. Nice to watch especially when he shoots long shots on English 8ball/blackball, seldom misses. unfortunately, 9 and 10 ball is not just about shooting. His safety game is not as good as Dechaine.. IMHO Dechaine is a tip above Shaw. Problem with Dechaine besides other stuff, no offence, is his reputation as a "village/ district/regional champion". he has to get out of his comfort zone and try fry some big fish .. Go and play in Phi for few weeks or months like John Morra That should open his eyes a lot

Yes, it was a terrific match by Mike. But he made 5 balls on the break just once, not multiple times.

Mike broke 8 times -- once dry and 7 times wet. On the wet breaks he made one ball once, two balls 4 times, three balls once, and five balls once. Six of the 8 breaks were B&R games!

On 6 of those 7 wet breaks, the second-row ball on the breaker's side went in the side pocket on the same side. That was the 4-ball all 6 times. The one time he reversed the 4- and 5-balls in that second row, the 5-ball did not go in the side!

Thanks for those stats!!!!!

Couldn't agree more, he needs more international seasoning and then he'll be a real problem. He needs to play away from his stomping grounds for awhile and I think his game will definitely excel enough to hang with the best. Do you think that's the secret to jumping from a shortstop to an open/pro? Cause I know some people who have been a shortstop forever because they haven't traveled, when they definitely do have the potential to jump that level but simply can't. Not saying Mike is a shortstop cause we all know he's not, but I mean for amateur players, that could be the secret.

I like Mike, he's passionate about the game & IMO is the second most talented rotation player in the US.

Mike is maturing as a person and a pool player. He seems committed to improving on both fronts.

Kudos to him. Who among us couldn't improve in some area? We usually get to do so in a more private setting.

Mikes break has improved.

SVB had a big edge in this department a while back. Looks like Mike took SVB advice to heart re working on his break. And not just Mike. SVB's break advantage gap has narrowed.

I believe I read recently of Mike being worried about an opponent's health during a match. That's good.

Once the health issue was resolved or mitigated, Mike crushed him. That's good too.

I get dumber by coming on here sometimes. This is one of the reasons why.

When brain cells die, there are other specialized cells in the brain whose job it is to eat the dead ones. The dead cell eaters are called phagocytes.

Hope that helps to balance it out.

OB Cues......

Those darn OB cues make the game too easy.....

Not the pattern racking that's cheating-----must be those darn special break cues people use.

About pattern racking...yeah I hate that when people always put the one in the front and the ten ball in the center.

I agree.... Mike is a beast. I would have lost my a$$ if I had bet on their last TAR match.
Everyone has to endure hard losses to build strength in my opinion . I'd like to see Mike call Shaw out for a rematch

Wow. Now there's a tidbit.

This is what I think every time I hear about Mike D. taking down another tournament. oh, he took down another east coast tournement. he really needs to get out of his comfort zone. I realize travel is expensive, but he'll never be the best (if that's his goal) sticking to the northeast.

Mike is a great player but did you see when he played shaw in a tar match ?

Yes, Mike played poorly in that one but he certainly has the head-to-head edge over Jayson by quite a bit in tournament competition in the Northeast, chiefly on the Joss and Predator tours.

Dechaine vs Shaw is the best rivalry here in the Northeast. Fierce competitors both of them, and yet you often see them hanging out together when they aren't beating up on each other.

They're two of the best twenty-somethings in the world today, and they greatly respect each other's firepower.
