yeah, he plays kinda good and all, but only over in greece land.

when he can win a major on american soil maybe then he'll get some respek

Are you kidding?

You don't get to the final 4 in the US Open by being overrated or lucky. Surely you must understand that Shane and Dennis are two of the best rotation pool players who have ever lived.

My post was directed at those who say Shane isn't great because he hasn't won anything major overseas.

Jesus man, learn to spot the sarcasm.
 
Making it to the top 3 in US open, and the Mosconi team for second time is something you definitely don't do by accident.
Everybody has good and bad days, this one was not Nick's day, and when you play against some of the top players in the world without performing well it's only natural you lose.
Edit: I saw now the third comment, the discussion about SVB was about him being the greatest or not (without having a world title yet for eg), there was no question about him being one of the best players of the world.

Nope. Shane made it to the top 5 of this year's World 9 Ball, but he didn't win, and therefore is overrated.
 
In this sport, you're as good as your competitive resume.

In other words, Nick is making the grade and has earned our respect. When you've come 3rd in the US Open, you can hold your head very high, and Nick should. Well played, Mr. Ekonomopolus.

The Shane comparison is meaningless. Shane is already an all-time great but he has things left to accomplish overseas in WPA play. Don't bet against him because he's starting to get the hang of it overseas with a 5th in the 2014 China Open and a 5th at the 2014 WPA World 9-ball Championships. He'll win one or more of these soon.

That said, holding Shane to this crazy-high standard shows just how special we think he is and how much we'd like to put him in the conversation of the best ever. Without at least one WPA World Championship, I don't see how he's in the conversation with Earl Strickland, who won six of them.
 
I'm not here to argue,just want to respectfully disagree with the possibility he could be overrated.

Unless Shane,Archer,or Earl at his best happen to be there,Nick ROBS every poolroom in America,at least in rotation games,and he probably plays good 14.1 as well.

I can't see anyone at that level being overrated,but that's just me :cool:. Tommy D.

The problem with a thread like this is that people on here say stuff this ridiculous and are serious… Hence the idea of irony is out the window:).

not just earl but mika efren varner svb is not in the conversation
