How Would You Get Out ?

How would you get from the 7 to the 8 in this layout? The 7 is slightly off the rail.

Hit the 7 with a little bit of draw, maybe a little bit of outside depending on how the table plays. My aim would be to just float up towards the middle diamond on the short rail, but fall maybe a foot or 2 short. 8 in the bottom corner, hit it with a little top and come across for the 9 in the same corner.

I can see the shot being a little trickier on the 7 for a lefty, but most could stretch.

A little above center right hand English. 3 rails below the 8. Float forward a few inches for the 9.

Any spelling errors I'm blaming on autocorrect :)

A little top right to come 2 or 3 rails above the 8. Drag or follow a little to make the shot on the 9 straight.

So many possibilities::
a) snap draw to put the 8 in the top corner
b) soft draw to float the cue up table for a shot on the 8 in the bottom corner
c) medium follow outside 3 rails for the 8 in the bottom corner
d) medium follow inside to float the CB up table for 8 in the bottom corner

Outside english at 9 o'clock. Speed is the question: soft to land around the headstring-ish or firm to bounce off the headrail? I'd probably opt for firm because soft might put me close to the headrail (i.e. "We don't do nothin' nice and soft" -- Tina Turner).

Without seeing the other replies yet: Use inside english, make the ball, hit the long rail before the side pocket, to the other short rail, to the other long rail. Almost straight in on the 8 in the bottom right corner. Easy 9.

edit: If you just feel like showing off, hit it hard with some left draw. The 7 goes in the corner, the cb hits the 9 which skims the 8. The 9 caroms off the 8 up into the corner, and the 8 banks cross side. Next game...

Getting out

I'll tell you how it would probably go for me....

I'd shoot it with high inside as suggested but come up way short. I'd probably be about in the middle of the table. Then, I'd have a reverse bank on the 8 in the side pocket and go 3 rails for the 9. Of course I'd over run that and then be on the 50 yard line as to which pocket I'd put the 9. I'd end up making a great cut on the nine but have to use some english to keep from scratching.... Once I got out, I'd have another beer because I'd be exhausted....

That's not how its suppose to be done but you asked how I'd do it!

Since it's awkward to bridge for the two rail low left shot (red) which would normally be my first choice (since the speed is easier to control) I would probably go high right three rails to shoot the 8 in the lower right corner. I think most players would be OK on this shape unless they were left handed. The danger here is misjudging the speed.

For me I would probably break out my masse cue. Make the 7 in the corner with a hard masse and then the cueball would reverse direction, spin 2 circles around the 9 ball, easy 3 rail bank on the 8 ball into the side pocket nearest to it followed by one last circle around the 9 ball finishing with a hop at the end to hit the 9ball on the top of the ball and jump it into the corner pocket.

Easy.

I can definitely see either inside or outside here. The inside looks very natural on the 3 rail shape as long as you don't use too much inside and scratch in the top right corner. Hitting outside is fine as well as long as you are comfortable with that angle. Both shots you of course want to be long on the top side on your cue ball leave vs hitting it too soft forcing you to bank the 8.

My sentiments exactly. Not a really difficult out but many choices.

Hit the cueball maybe at 2 o'clock, coming around 3 rails towards the 8.
This should leave you almost straight in...
