Mosconi Cup Unpicked Players Bail Out

simple, who cares if they go, I mean the offensive coach defensive coach special shots coach etc was aan absolute joke its not like there are timeouts in the match plus these "coaches" maybe bar Oscar all have less experience and are not as good as the others so that to me would cause more unrest than positivity having shuff try tell me how to get out if I was svb corey Schmidt etc there US open champions

however it was a team of 8 all were going together regardless how stupid should have followed through, Oscar wants to keep stealing at his own mezz cue tour

That quote about Oscar is just plain ignorant. Try setting up and helping to manage a tournament while also competing. Have you even checked out the quality of the players or watched one of the tournaments? How do you "steal" from a group like that? Absolutely absurd.

So you are only a man of your word when it matters to you . You should have been the ninth man on the Mosconi Cup Team. You would have fit in perfectly with the three that were not selected. Way to deflect my original question ! It wasn't meaningless to Mark Wilson (So I guess your everyone statement was not accurate).

No, I'm a man of my word when it matters. They have no purpose being in England. If they choose not to go, it affects nobody but themselves. The team will not suffer. The production will not suffer. They would have no positive or negative influence on the outcome of the Mosconi cup. So why is it so god damn important to you that they go? "Because they said they're going?" So something else came up... You've never in your life changed your plans? Really! I'll bet both elbows you have.

Fact is, it doesn't matter if they go so why is it so important to you that they go?

Non players could be very helpful and upbuilding We think of pool as an individual sport this was going to be more that with 3 players having roles to play. They would have helped with drills racking etc. they all have skills and would have been an asset for the team.

People make fun of breaking coach. Safety coach. Whatever the coach but those were the focus of the various assistants it would have been nice to have seen it executed per Marks plans.

I can't tell if this was a serious post or a joke. I'm laughing so hopefully a joke.

All 8 of those originally chosen have one thing in common, they're gamers. Being a gamer in a solo sport like pool, golf, boxing, bowling, etc... is way more than just being a winner or champion. It takes a mindset that few people ever get to know and understand. That "gamer" mindset is the one thing that sets them apart from the next tier of players and makes them champions. Not just this year but every single year the guys who don't make the MC team are pissed or at least disappointed they didn't make the squad, why would this year be any different? Because Mark Wilson asked them to go even if they got cut? To be a rack boy/coach? To tell the others how to play safe? Or show them special shots?

If months prior to selection you were told you were a MC team prospect would you go along with whatever was asked of you? You sure the hell would. Now these three are catching flack for not travelling to the UK. Do you remember them going to San Diego to get the pep talk from the Seals? Or them going to Lindenwood to train? How much do you think those events paid them? I'm going to go out on a limb and say that each of them cost them money. Not sure about Shuff and Sossei, but I know Oscar works for a living and lost out on money going to the other MC team events, should he lose out on more, plus a holiday with his family to go to the UK and be a fluffer?

Asking them to go there as coaches, advisors, cheerleaders, whatever you want to call it is humiliating and insulting.... They're gamers. Then they get there and are seen on international TV as the 3 guys who weren't good enough to make the team, but we pitied them and created spot for them to be here....

As an American I'm proud they decided to stay home and be true to themselves! If you will settle for second place, you'll never be a winner.

There is power in the voice of AZ but as a whole not in the individuals snot slinging and bashing but in the groups concensus on changes and courses of action that could benefit pool at the amatuer or professional level.. The power in that is mainly in polls... Somehow we go long periods between relevant polls and there never seem to be any used on bash fest subjects as we just watch them rool out 20+ pages of garbage and crap out......

Chris

The power of AZ is when there is an intelligent discussion.

In a way it's like a site like TripAdvisor. You read the reviews, you throw out the stupid, the shills, people with an obvious axe to grind, and so on. You pay attention to what's left.

I think some folks would be surprised to learn who reads AZ.

It was like any other job interview, you bs to get the job. They got past the first round and then after being ditched for the team they said f*ck it. What is so hard to understand about that. Now we can focus on the actual players playing instead of this ridiculous concept Wilson was schilling.

This has nothing to do with the military or anything else that truly matters. This is a made for TV event that has almost no impact on anything.

There's nothing hard about understanding they broke their word.

If they weren't committed to going they shouldn't have stepped forward in the first place. Pretty simple, really.

I absolutely agree he does not owe me shit, but i think he absolutely owes Oscar, Brandon, and Jeremy a reply to curb the BS libel that has been posted on here attacking their reputations and character. What was started on this thread was pure defamation of those 3 players and it was a result of the system thay Mark set up. He owes them.

They bailed.

He doesn't owe them diddly-do-da.

Skimmed through the thread, and I've got a question:

Anyone know if there was money laid out for the three guys that didn't make the team to attend (in whatever capacity) ? I'm talking as far as hotel/airfare accommodations.

Yeah....

Unfortunately, there's too much bullshit and most people don't know how to sift through it.

Talking out your ass about what went on behind the scenes without knowing does everyone a disservice...

Now you're starting to piss me off talking shit about my friends...

You need to shut your mouth. You have no idea WTF you're talking about. Just tell me this, how in the SAM F%$K do YOU know that they gave their word that they would go if they didn't make the team????Or that that was even on the table prior to not being selected???

I second this. You getting as bad or worse than JB. Johnnyt

Both are known public figures in the pool world and they can be judged on the image and actions they put forth to the public. On that Mark and his so called "class" has not impressed me much to date, and his lack of actual response on this issue only furthers my negative impression of him.

Why would he respond to this garbage? News flash, this in an internet forum populated with keyboard commando trolls. This is not the united nations or a grand jury summons. For god sakes put yourself in perspective.

Why does it have to be that way? Why can't they enjoy their lives and take a nice Christmas vacation free of charge in the UK?

Their all young now and have an opportunity. Gamer pride is stupid in this situation. Go to the UK, act like a movie star, hone your brand, take full advantage of the situation. I'd be the first person at the airport asking if I can use my mileage to upgrade to Biz Class. I'd go and have a damn good time.

Guess I'm not a gamer.

Still don't believe Corey should be there. Shane spots him the 5 and 6 playing 10-ball. What kind of confidence do you think Corey has ??

The 3 that were not selected had a shot at seeing front row what it's like dealing with the Euros and they declined? Those 3 would move to the very back of the line next year regardless of the selection criteria.....

Seasoning doesn't have to be directly in the fire.. It can just be from being in the oven....

Chris
Not to sound rude cause thats not my intention but sitting front row to see
what there dealing with? They all know each other to some degree anyways
and have played each other in other events.
This is pool not some strategic team game like football or hockey where
you see the coach drawing plays on a chalk board implementing some
sort of road to victory.
Everytime I've watched the Mosconi Cup, the coach will run down and
pat the player on the back and say ''way to go''. IMO a coach isn't relevant
and not even needed. Its not like the coach can yell from the stands''Play
a safety'' or ''Go for a combo''. He's really just another fan in the stands.
Pool tries and tries to make this some sort of chess game but at the end
its still just checkers.
The USA would have a legit shot at winning this year if they keep
the unneeded politics out of it and concentrate on making balls and
running out without the drama before hand.

My take on the players not going is that's its ok with all of us. I completely understand not wanting to go. If I didn't make the team it would be very easy for me to say ya I would've went anyway. Truth is that would be very hard to fly to England sit and watch the Mosconi Cup. Now I may have went bc it may have improved my chances of being on next year but trust me none of the players are upset or mad that the 3 "bailed out on us." That's just the way I see it.
