Can I go

Can I go HighEndCue now that I answered your question?

Must be at least 100 people from this thread going to show their support for the USA.

Every person slinging mud at these 3 pool players that didn't make the team that decided not to go, MUST be going themselves.

If your one of the patriotic posters accusing others of bailing and non supporting the USA. Please list your name as an attendee at MC

If I get all expenses paid and ~$700 if we lose and ~$1350 if we win like the 3 players that opted out would have...I am all in!

true.
now all of yáll can jump me too.
Nah.. No jumping on you :)

But this is a funny quote:
"Oh yeah, and by showing you weren't a team player, potentially damaging your prospects in future years".

There was absolutely no format or formula to make the Mosconi team this year.
Future years??? Why would anyone care.

1. Play all the Events..
2. Travel all around the world at your expense
3. Be a top point leader
4. Beat the best at 9 ball
OR
Just not play events
Sit at home
Don't spend money traveling
AND YOUR IN :)

A complete JOKE..

Answered my Question?
Where?

OH, I get it.. So your a hater, cause they can go, with expenses paid.
And you would go if someone paid for you..
Thanks for clearing that up

It is what he says! I have been cordial with him and others with different opinions.

In his latest post I am told to "pound sand". Some can have an adult debate and conversation. Some can't!

He is friends with Mark Wilson and oblivious to anything else. But, Forgets these 3 have been defended in a respectful way.

While camp MW and particularly Lou have gone public and dragged them through the mud.

The 3 and their friends have not started threads trashing mark or maligning mark.

That is the big difference!

Kd

Where did Mark Wilson drag anyone " thru the mud" . Show me or ... excuse me s.t.f.u. W ithall due respect.

it's quite the contrary - you're the one that doesn't know

I believe it's quite the contrary - you're the one that doesn't know anything about my profession.

You know nothing about my profession... or you wouldn't have made such a mess of your presence here :-)

You're right. Why wouldn't they bail. Made some promises but punched for personal reasons. No effect on their chances in 2015, 2016.... sure, any future MC captain would't hesitate to pick them after showing they are dependable men of their word.

I mean, what MC captain wouldn't pick a guy who committed to going but might end up saying a couple of weeks before the event: had something else going on, sorry couldn't make it, don't care.

T'was not talking about your profession. You brought up mine and said, "You are a hypocrite considering your background..."

Try and keep up. It's a fast moving world.

is this the Ralf Souquet/Mark Griffin thread?

(sorry, that was bad form!)

Every MC I have watched, in person, the guys are always talking over strategy, shot selection, and position, most doubles games.

Lou Figueroa

Can we bet a dinner at Kreis that their is very little, if any discussion over strategy, shot selection or position during the doubles games?

Did you actually watch last night or were you eyeing Mark the entire time waiting for your chance to talk to him? :)

The base concept is one of commitment.

You said you'd go and support the team in any capacity. Then you ducked (another good word for faithful readers of this thread). You were part of a team and them decided you weren't going to get enough limelight and wanted out.

Should have thought about that before you said you'd go.

Doesn't matter what happened last night. I've been to three MC, in person, how about you? Both the Euro and US teams have talked during the doubles. I don't know if Mark has changed things up. It's possible that he has got his doubles teams working together for awhile and that they don't need to talk as much. We'll all see shortly. For the first time we have a team concept working.

Lou Figueroa

it's a loaded question... "Do you think you would be willing to come as part of the team as a non player?".

No one in that position is going to say no...

It would be a different story if you say when they are first chosen as part of the 8, being a part of the 8 means that you will need to commit to going to the mosconi cup regardless as to whether you are part of the playing 5. You will have expenses paid (specifically addressing whether it is expenses paid upfront or reimbersed) and get x amount if we win as a playing team member and x amount if we win as a nonplaying team member.

Still interested?

Even that is still a loaded question. He should also set some specific criteria for the ultimate decision. The willy nilly whatever criteria for being selected in addition to the above just isn't right, it puts too much on the potential players.

If done the same way, he'll find that any players he asks will say they will go, but I doubt any will if they aren't selected under those circumstances, and potential pool of players that haven't 'ditched them' will grow smaller and smaller each year.

When I had major surgery on my knee, (patellar tendon reattachment surgery) where they drilled four holes from bottom to top of my knee cap and shaved off the bottom portion of my knee cap then attached four heavy duty sutures to the tendon and threaded them through the holes and tied them off.

I had to wait for the bone to grow back over the tendon and anyone that has had that type of work done where they get down into the bone, it is supposed to be one of the most painful things you can endure.

I was back to work one week from the day of the surgery. I should've been on disability for 4-6 months. The reason I went back to work???'

I couldn't afford to be on disability for 4-6 weeks, let alone 4-6 months.

You ask people to go away for weeks with limited compensation and expect them to say, yeah let me go...when they were expecting to get 10,000 minimum for that same time frame when they initially accepted???

Some people CAN'T afford to do that, the same way I couldn't afford to be laid out for 4-6 months.

Whether the players want to go may not even come into it. You do what you have to do to support yourself and your family.

Ripping into them for that is unacceptable IMO.

Jaden
So your bone grew back over your tendon in a week? just askin.

this is gonna be my one and only post in this thread.

this thread has gotten past beating a dead horse .....its now stomping a mud hole in his ass.

Lou - for someone that touts that he knows MW and his concepts, I don't think you grasped a thing last night from your attendance. Next time you go to watch pool, try thinking about what you are really watching. It could help your game or get you to realize why someone won or lost. Last night was not an exhibition/parade of the players for the fans. Last night was all about the Mosconi Cup.

There will be little, if any talk of strategy during the double matches. There might be mistakes made because of this but it is as it is. (for example, the back cut attempt by Justin Hall last night in the finals on the 3 ball when he should have played safe).

p.s. The team has been here since November 21st if that is your definition of 'awhile'.

p.s.s. I have been to zero Mosconi Cups. Couldn't afford to take off work to watch pool but am jealous of those that live the life that can.

You make absolutely no sense. You ask a question and I answered it...so now I am a hater. Typical answer from someone that has no credible response..

That's the most NAIVE statement I've ever read..

Then they should have thought it through like adults before making a decision. That's what people do who feel that their word actually means something.

edit: I also feel that if you are willing to play on a team to represent your country, and your main concern is how much you will make, you don't belong on the team to start with.

People have mortgages to pay, car loans, some have families to feed. You don't spend three weeks overseas if it means that those obligations can't be met.

This has never been part of the MC that players not making the team having to go. It was never mandatory, and he asked, and no one was going to say NO cause their chances would have gone down the tubes.
Do you seriously think Shane, Corey and all the other guys would have went to be rack boys. You got even money others said they wouldn't have gone if not on the team.

No.

So your bone grew back over your tendon in a week? just askin.

I couldn't bend my leg at all for a month, then 15 degrees for two weeks, then 30 degrees for two weeks.

It took six months of rehab and a year to have full mobility back. I hobbled around with a locked knee brace for each of those periods that was adjustable to allow for just that much bending.

Hell, I was hobbling around the table shooting pool when Oscar and John Morra matched up at hardtimes.

I had to borrow a car from my parents that was an automatic because I couldn't drive a stick being unable to bend my left leg. It was a tight fit even with the seat back.

So I hobbled around on crutches with a knee brace for a few months and then with a cane for a long time after that.

What families to feed...aren't they all bachelors ?
