Scooter, Family Man and Best Hustler in America

What do you think? ----------> Promo trailer.

The fund-raising campaign begins December 1st, and the filimg begins January 2015 ---> HERE.

I like the promo. It's funny. :grin-square:
It looked really good from a Production standpoint which was suprising. I read where some people thought a more talented or pro player would make for a better chance of success, I don't agree..I think a pro would find it harder to get action even giving up alot of weight. When a guy knows he's facing a pro who can string racks together at any time its going to make him more hesitant to play or to bet big IMHO.

Also the "gamling" factor, and some thinking thats the black eye for pool, I think its great for Pool just like it is for Poker. Pool and gambling have been linked forever which isn't negative...dumping and chopping is the negative and the black eye on the game. Gambling in pool is common knowlegde for most people and isn't where the problem lies. As was said on previous posts...Action matches draw the largest crowds and the higher the stakes, the bigger the crowds. Its also great knowing Scooter will be playing with his own bankroll and not being staked...lends itself to the drama and hopefully compelling to the viewer.

Scooter is obviously an interesting character to watch no matter what he's ever done in his past, and from what I saw from the trailer he's going to share the spotlight with some of his "team" which should be interesting to see how he interacts with them as well as just watching Scooter himself...which looks interesting enough to hold an audience on its own.

Looking forward to it.

didnt make this list because there was no conviction but Iverson was charged with murder twice. There are people with wrap sheets in all walks even main stream sports.

Spanky had me in tears at SBE this year usually around 3 or 4 AM he can be pretty funny. haven't seen skittles or scooter for years. I will watch and give small support. It wont be any worse than anything else on the tube these days.

I predict there will be a few surprises in the upcoming series that will be fun to watch.

One thing that always interests me is how people got into pool from the get-go. Me, I was pulled in when the men at my local tavern asked the bartender to not let the ladies play on the bar box table because it slowed down their action when they were gambling. I was about 19 or so. Well, that pissed me off, big time. I made it a point to improve in my game, and within a year or so, I was keeping up with the big boys. As I got better and better, I was winning. I can remember the old-timers at the bar turning around to check out the girl playing pool, which was me. I was very comfy on that bar box with the big cueball. 8-ball was the game: 8-ball neutral and 8 on the break wins.

I think Scooter is from Ohio, but how did he get into pool in the first place? And who were his pool mentors? Does anybody know his background? I know he's been around at least 10 or 12 years at various events I've attended. :grin-square:

In the promo I saw his photo hanging from a banner next to one of Shane and one of one more Pro (forgot who)... 3 banners side by side hanging from the ceiling at a tournament venue (DCC?)..does anyone know how/why he's got his that honor? Its pretty cool if deserved just curious as to what he did to get it.

Hmmm... Jenny starts thread about an upcoming pool reality show, husband is a colorful pool playing character and member of SAG no doubt. She makes the post above... I'm predicting a Keith sighting somewhere in this series.

Am I on to something or just on something??? ;)

I think because he may have won the Louie Roberts Award one year

I see they're coming through Atlanta, I'm assuming they're going to show up at Mr. Cues II or MBC?

I hope they put the word out as to specifically when and where beforehand. I definitely want to come out and witness this spectacle live.

I wouldn't hold your breath in Atlanta. They need to raise about $1,300 a day to meet their goal. Right now, they're averaging about $95.

So the question is, are they going to make the circuit regardless of whether they can afford to film it?

When I first saw that video on AzBilliards Main Page, I was really taken aback. The funny thing is that I did start this thread because I was really impressed with the quality of the production. In particular, that camera seems to love Scooter, and I think the production company's approach to this is a sound one.

There is something to be said about the power of AzBilliards in the pool world. Oh, the impossible dream! :grin-square:

If a guy who was so broke he was robbing car wash change machines is the best hustler in America - Mamas don't let you babies grow up to be hustlers.

I'm beginning to think you are in love with him..

Is it so hard for you to believe that a person who is as passionate about pool as I am would like to pay tribute to a project that I think it pretty cool and holds promise? I guess not. :(

Maybe you were posting while under the influence, which is why you didn't even take the time to make sure your quoted matter in your post was not in disarray. Thanks for the effort.

I've actually had people post a " bag of quarters" on the light, and yes I have on more than one occasion had to deal with it. For the record, the light CAN NOT not hold $500 in quarters

Happens it will be Phony as hell

I just learned something new about this documentary film project last night, so I will refrain from expressing my thoughts at this time, other than to say stand by.

Interestingly, the campaign to raise funds has launched. I just looked at last evening for the first time. The industry sponsors believe in this project. I'm totally impressed with how they have banded together to launch the campaign for the American Road Player. AzBilliards, Tony with Hustlin' USA Clothing Co., Greg Sullivan with Diamond and Derby City Classic, and Pooldawg, which are the pool industry's top entities in the business, are supporting it, which should speak volumes.

I hope when it's all said and done that folks will give it a chance and come away with a smile on their face after seeing the final product. :)

Baltimore has had its share of coin circulation in times gone by. :embarrassed2:

Amen sista, and for the record two things. If you think you can carry $2000 in coins by yourself you CAN NOT, AND the back room at J&J was not just for sleeping. Lol. Jam - did u happen to see my post referring to the Goose?
