How Would You Play This Layout?

The commentators say the 2 easily goes past the 8 and you are shooting the 1. What's your move from here?

I'm banking the 1 ball 2 rails toward the 9 ball and tying up the cue ball behind the six. The shots and position are just too crazy to try to run it out.

Same here except I would roll the cb towards the end rail.

Now...... If youre feeling feeling like you have a Mike Massey sized stroke, you could shoot the circular draw, cb off the point of the side and bend it around the 6 for perfect shape on the 2. But thats a little tough.... :rotflmao:

If the cut on the one ball is not too severe, I'm doing this and taking the shot on the two ball from here which is ok with the three ball at the other end of the table.

Surely I would play the 1 passing the 3 in the corner with right draw to get on the right side of the 2.

I don't think you can get more than about a diamond from the side pocket down towards the 2 with draw, and with the speed you'd need to hit it, I just don't think that's going to work.

The only way I see getting on the 2 is going high left three rails.

Bank the one ball, and hide the cue ball snug behind the 6 ball, then once you have ball in hand........ RUN OUT!

YEP thats the move for the cash........

load up with inside and shoot it past the 3 then spin around three rails behind the 3 to get on the 2. It might be a little steep on the 2 but considering how easy it is to get on the 3, I think this is the shot. You can't hit it too hard. You've gotta let the spin grab that first rail and change the angle.

If I'm playing well, I'm going to play the 1-ball in the top right corner and pull one rail
below the 6 for the 2 in the corner....this shot has to be hit with a very short follow-through
so that the draw takes QUICK to avoid the side pocket....hit whitey 6:30.
...not recommended on new cloth.

On my conservative days, I'm gonna soft draw to the 6 with a little right spin to shorten the
bank so the 1-ball goes to the 9.

Using draw: Pocket the 1 ball in top right corner, draw back to lower short rail. (Might need a little bit of right draw because I don't want to hit the 4, and the angle isn't quite straight.) Then play safe by hiding behind the 8, 9, or by snugging up to the 3 ball. Depending on choice, object ball gets banked towards the 4 ball, or around where the 1 was. I prefer this to the inside spin 3 or 4 railer because especially on a tight table....its a higher percentage shot.

Softer hit on the 1 to the right corner pocket with draw bringing the cue ball back just past the 4. Combo on the 2-3. If you have shape on the 2 you can get out from there. If no shape on the 2 then it's time for a safe. Aggressive play but I mostly play to win rather than not to lose in this situation.

Exactly 1 under the 3 and spin the rock like Earl 3 or 4 rails and perfect on 2 ball.

Try This - top inside

Just tried this shot and it works perfectly, though it might change a little depending how you set up.

Just hit follow with a lot of inside english (left). Without a lot of inside, you'll catch the pocket jaws.

If you miss and avoid the kiss on the CB, you'll leave a lot of distance and maybe hook your opponent. It takes you perfectly to the 2 ball, try it.

Bingo. That's how I would go. John

You have to learn this shot because it comes up over and over in the beginning shot of a run or to get back in line. Shoot it with the object ball near the spot and the cueball midtable. Cueball spins off the middle of all 3 rails and comes to the middle of 4th rail...you cannot scratch. You just overcut the object ball and the collision induced throw and spin from using inside English bring the object ball to the hole. All it takes is practice and it's automatic.
