38 Super is a semi auto. No way I would ever fire that H&R. Good way to get hurt since the timing is off. If you get $40 @ a turn in take it.Any chance it was a Super .38? If so and it is in good shape at all, it's worth more than $50.

In the mid-70's my friends Uncle had a guy stuck big time playing 9 ball on a bartable and proceeded to beat him out of his "Caterpillar" and yes I am speaking of the earth moving machine :grin-square:
A puppy.
Coming back from visiting some family down south one year I stopped off in this really nice looking country pub for a little something to eat with my uncle. We played a couple of games after our meal and the owner comes up and says you think you can play a little, how about for money? Wasn't sure if my uncle would let me, I was only 16. My uncle calmly said you don't want to do that, he was like he can play well enough to beat anyone in the pub. We played and I beat him out of about £60ish playing for 5 a game. He shouts over some guy at the bar and was like he'll play you. The owner was backing the guy so the guy had nothing to lose. Out walks this little Labrador puppy. Straight away I said I want to play for the dog to my uncle. He raised the stakes right up and said id only play for 100 a game. The owner was up for it so we played. I ended up about 13-2 up in games and the guy couldn't play so I was like call it even if you give me 200 and the dog. He accepted and I walked out with a lifelong friend called Lilly.
Had a hard time trying to explain to my mother how I acquired a dog. She is so against any form of gambling.
Won the first push button drive car I ever seen when I was first married in 1964. Won a ton of jewelry, pool sticks that I gave away, tools, tennis shoes, you name it over past 55 years !
I played a High School guy once for a date with his sister. He was a VG player, I was good. She playfully agreed. I would pay him 10 bucks. Lot of $$ in 60's. Straight pool 50. I had high run of 38 and won. She complied and became friends. No more history than that!
In High School I played another student for a date with his sister. He was not bud of mine and I only knew her to see in the halls. It was a big upset I won, this guy was good. Things just went my way. Straight pool 75 points. Won by more than 20 with a 38 ball high run. My investment was 20 bucks if lost. It was all straight pool back in late 50's. She honored the bet and we had a soda during lunch. Nothing became of it. Parted friends. I felt good just for the esteem it brought me in the poolroom. Had my own cue then because we traveled then. Drilled out the bottom and filled it with couple ounces steel wool.
Here's a quick cute story but true. Me and my running buddy - both just out of relationships - were out bar hopping every night doing damage. ( he is like my brother btw ) well one of his friends called up and invited us to a st patty's day party over at his beach house. We were both not really trying to go cause OF COURSE THERE ARE MORE girls at the bar than at this party. Well to make a very long story short; it ended up there was ONE VERY CUTE, VERY SEXY, AND VERY SINGLE hot blonde at this party. We got talked into going. One problem. Two of us, one blonde???? Well we did what any good brothers would do, they had a table at the beach house and we played for the right to talk to her. Race to 5,I won 5-4 hooked up with her, became the love of my life and never looked back. True story.
if that is true...i'd say thats the best win of the strange wins......what did she say when you told her she was the prize?![]()
Yup, true story. Actually everyone in the house knew what was going on, except her and her friend she came with. Very cool girl but I honestly didn't know how she would take that ( at least till she knew me a little better lol ) so I told her like maybe 6 months later. She actually laughed and thought it was kinda romantic. For the longest time seemed kinda like fate or something.
Very strange you bringing this up right now, this happened back in 07. I haven't seen, talk to, nor thought about the guy and his wife that threw this party in many years. The totally randomly I was talking to my buddy that I had this match with a couple days ago and asked about them - once again totally random. Sadly, they have been divorced for quite some time and beach house sold off.
