It seems that I've read quite a bit about this "Anti League" sentiment.
Most of the posts that seem to be against leagues all have similar stories to tell about how league players act and why they are disliked so much.
I have to admit that I too would be uncomfortable if I witnessed some of the things that have been mentioned, but I have to add that there are many leagues that are quite different.
Our league in North Dallas Texas is quite the opposite. The competition is very high in the higher level divisions as well as having some more entry level players in the lower level divisions. But virtually all who play in the leagues are courteous and thoughtful of each other as well as the places that we play.
I really think the differences come down to a number of things.
The people, the people and the people.
I very much enjoy the people in our leagues.
I guess the moral of the story is that not all leagues are filled with people who don't really care about anything.
Royce
Oh, let's don't say that, Royce. Don't you know? All leagues, everywhere, are all filled with unclean heathens, trailer park trash, the uncouth of the uncouth...
There can be no possibility of people who play league and actually give a damn. And are polite and courteous. They might read this sight and actually know who some of the pro's are, too...
I've heard there are a few who play pretty damned well, too....imagine that.
Regardless of this foolishness, MG and CSI know what they are doing, they are right far more often than not. I expect that this years 8 and 10 ball US Opens will be quite successful.
I'm also curious to see the pro's reactions to this. I haven't seen Facebook blow up yet, at least not the pro's that I follow there. (GASP, a league player who knows who some of the pro's are and actually follows them, say it ain't so!!!!!!!!) I'm sure once they get yakking about it, it will get pretty lively.
