Ivory ban: Are you afraid to offend people with your ivory cues?

Just like PETA activists spray painting the fur coats of celebrities, are you guys afraid to offend other pool players? What if they damaged your cues?

Do you feel ashamed?

Ivory

No - I am not ashamed. And if someone damaged my cue - they would get damaged. Destroying my personal property will not bring back the animal that they are defending.

Ivory

It is a preference. It is a natural material that I believe (not all will agree) has a different feel and response. I like the look, that it stays clean, and it has value. If you don't like it - you should not use it.

I spray paint over the ivory on my cue so as not to offend the many PETA members at my pool hall ;)

I personally love the look of ivory in inlays, joints, and ferrules. I don't like the ivory ferrules or joints in my personal player as I feel the ferrules are heavier, and being in a hot to cold dry area, would be concerned with maintenence.
Not interested in throwing more fuel into a debate here, but I believe that pro ivory cue owners can mind their own business and enjoy their beautiful cues. And anti ivory cue owners can also mind their own business and enjoy their non ivory beautiful cues.
I do believe however, that there are more productive ways to protect wildlife than by doing damage to somebody's personal property. Like researching the topic, and learning what kind of ivory goes into a cue. Where and how it was harvested. And how the ivory used in American made cues does not contribute to the lawless destruction of wildlife.

ABSOLUTELY NOT
i designed my cue and am proud of the job chris nitti did to produce it......

I could care less that people dislike the fact of owning ivory.,. I like it, wish I had more personally.,...but the fact that people want to complain about it is ridiculous when most people have gold, silver, and diamonds and wether you want to believe it or not there are parts of the world where people are enslaved and die trying to find diamonds and such but nobody protests that

People should really mind their own business, unfortunately it is unlikely. People are going to complain and ***** about the ivory.

We've already soon fellow AZ'er fight and argue with others about it.

PETA is mostly run by rich women that need a good f... to straighten them out. Don't even get me started on PETA. They cost me money. I wish they had an open hunting season on PETA bit.... I'd buy an M-60 machine gun. Johnnyt

What about the leather wraps? Lizard wraps? Snake skin wraps? Those animals, I guess, do not matter? If you REALLY take a hard look at what you eat and wear alone, you will realize how silly it is. Thomas Wayne has over explained this argument soundly. I challenge anyone to trump that one.

I honestly don't think another pool player is gonna take issue with the ivory in another pool players cue. Some may decide they personally don't want ivory in their cue, but I can't see one pool player holding it against another. TW opened my eyes on the whole ivory ban propaganda, now I know that it's all a big politically motivated cash grab. Now, if I wouldn't of had a open mind I would of thought my original belief was in the best interest of saving elephants. Making ivory illegal will not stop poaching, it may drive the black market value even higher. IMHO

I can counter....

So you believe this because some cue maker told you. Remember, he is in the business of making cues and of course he doesn't want ivory prices to sky rocket.

This train of thought is immoral compared to those who want to save an elephant because you and him are looking to save a buck (1$).
