The next time you see a kid shooting pool and he makes a good shot, let him know.. You never know you may just be his hero and not even know it. One little compliment can change a kids life. Btw if you are older than me, I could be 37 and still that kid. Karma keeps going.....
 
Was in hot seat over weekend just waiting for losers side there was kid hitting balls came over too me asked me too hit some with him I said sure he was 13 was pretty strong shot for his age told him u play good bud keep at it and ull be monster he says too me I wish I had ur stroke I just thought wow thank u as I said then told him he had great one that he didn't need mine he was pretty happy I said so u could tell hope too see him in future snapping tourneys off

Several years ago I was playing in a tournament and Jeremy Jones was playing on the table next to me. I was down on a shot and he was waiting behind me. I stroked and he complimented my shot.

Here we are years later and I still remember that compliment. You are so right. :)
 
Good idea. Todays yoots need all the help they can get.
My question, however, is how do you get there attention when their face is constantly glued to a smart phone? I'm surprised more kids don't fall down open manholes. :)

Usually "you got a nice stoke kid" is followed by "want to play for a fiddy?".

Every Sunday I hang around this group, so plenty of chance for compliments or helping to learn something.

This is a great thread and I'm sure this hits a special place for a lot of us. Green sent your way. This should be a thread of the year nominee. The feeling created by such simple actions as the occasional compliment or encouraging remark can change a lot in a person's life. I know my game grew over the years due to actions like this. This is a major component of the fuel we need to keep this game alive.

This is a GREAT post!!!

This game/sport we love (just like life) is filled with so much negativity. None of us know what any one person is struggling with day to day, nor do we know how are words can have an effect on them. Both positive and/or negative.

Saying Hi to someone, and genuinely asking how they are doing, can change someone's entire day, month or life.................you never know!!

Also, regardless of where we are on our own pool journey, there are those we are higher than and those we are lower than. It is just a journey, and we need to be respectful to all who are traveling it.

Nice thread, there is a lot of negative in general about pool from general thought of those not very familiar and those who enjoy the pool world but always hear the negatives.

I could ruin the kid's life by encouraging him to become a professional pool player.
