Ever tried playing with one eye closed?

It messes you up. It used to be a good handicap. Play a guy who you can't beat and he has to play with one eye covered. You find he can no longer beat you.
NO I have enough trouble with both open:grin-square:
I tried because one of my eyes is really nearsighted but the other is almost perfect. Missed 90% of my shots.
Only on close and super tight cuts.
I had to play with one eye closed because I had a mis-aligned eye. I'd look down the table and see two balls, one just a little below and to the left of the other. I played that way for about year until I mentioned it to my optomotrist. She did the test and wrote me a prescription for PD-corrective lenses (unfortunatley it can't be cured via contacts or surgery).
I played high school basketball, college football and almost played semi-pro baseball (many years ago), and never realized it until I started playing pool.
So yes, two eyes are better than one, but you can play with one eye.

I did, once. I was actually trying out a pirate's patch to see whether I would like it or not. I personally don't think women should be the only ones who accessorize.
Anyway, I bent down to take a shot, fired in the nine-ball, and hollered. "Rack 'em."
It turns out that my depth perception was shot to hell with the eye patch on and I had just won the game on the table next to the one I was supposed to be playing on.
The manager politely asked me to leave.

Balls close and a thin cut,,been shutting my right eye for 50 years to make those shots. It was taught to me by an Uncle , back when I was a kid..have always used that. It doesn't work for me on long shots and such..but tight cuts,,Yep!

When sighting a rifle or archery bow, you use your dominant eye. Maybe in your Pre Shot Routine, you could line up, then sight down your shaft with your dominant eye to see how things look before you open both up.

When you close one eye, the brain remembers 3d perception for a little while, then it fades, coz le brain no longer gets the input it needs to percieve depth.

It sucks.......OMG........depth perception.....peripheral vision distractions ........difficulty maintaining proper, steady head position completing the stroke........it just sucks.......I tried it once for 3 days.........I had eye surgery on a Friday and the patch didn't come off til the following Monday.......worst weekend of "trying" to play pool........if I ran 4-5 balls, it was an accomplishment..........the game sucked. my play sucked, and playing pool like some mythical Cyclops sucked.......in my humble opinion.

Lost eye
AboUt 3 years I went from running racks to not being able to run 3 balls, and I couldn't figure out why. Then about 2 nights later I'm in front of mirror brushing my teeth an I close one eye and notice I can barely see out of the other eye.
Went to the eye specialist found out I had optic nerve drusen it's a genetic disease, I've lost 75% of one eye. It's took me little over a year to get back to running a rack. O yea it was my dominant eye. One good thing that has come is I can play opposite handed very well now for some reason. And I only practiced it for maybe 10 min day for 2 weeks and got really good at opposite hand.
