I will probably get flamed for this but- if you are not a expert and there's no LOA from pete who is a expert. How do you know it's legit? As you stated

Bottom line if you or whomever you talked to are expert enough to as to say " they know it's legit" they should also be able to determine a reasonable value . I would find it unreasonable for someone on here to be able to give to a accurate value without good pictures and a more detailed discription

Just trying to help- would hate to see another crazy I got ripped off thread from you

Considering-

9 to 10.5k.... BUT in this market 8 to 9

Considering that the Balabushka name was known only to a few outside the realm of pool.
the movie "The Color of Money"
was the premier vehicle that propelled every aspect of the billiard industry.

So, if there was a film that featured every aspect of pool/billiards from it's beauty,
to it's problems and the champions who play to survive to the cue makers who build the weapons we use on the table, we may have another wave of interest to drive pool again!

That film is "Raising the Hustler" and these are the series 4 of 4, full-splice,
"Raising the Hustler" cues by Avs Cueshop!

Fair advise.... if the advise is coming from someone who doesn't know the cues or the market... If his description is correct my reply is in the ballpark..

3 shafts in original condition and nice condition also.Cue has 4 point titlist veneer with no inlay and no LOA but I know it legit.Any cue expert has an idea how much? thanks

The way I would approach this would be to get the LOA from Tascarella and he will also give you a pretty accurate value. On a couple of the cues I was involved with, he estimated auction values pretty accurately. It's difficult to sell a Balabushka for market value without the LOA because so many fakes were made. The general concern I would have if there were no LOA involved is Pete may have already seen the cue and said "not", in which case there is going to be a problem.

The condition, originality, and knowledge of the cues history or chain of ownership all have large effects on these cues. As far as prices, the 3 shafts add to the value. I would estimate 6K would be a middle range value for a decent plain Titlist with 3 shafts in decent original condition (if you want to move the cue).

First, Hulk and Skins are correct, assuming very good condition. However, why would you want it? I read you thread about being ripped off and felt very bad for you. NEVER BUY A BALABUSKA WITHOUT A COA FROM PETE. Also, while state of the art in the day, tables have changed and I doubt that it would be best suited for today. More important, reading from you thread, it is clear that you do not like a weight bolt. Ae you aware that ALL real Balbushka's have a special weight bolt in the butt and that is a reason people have to have the x rayed. This is not like a bolt in the butt, it is near the wrap, but nonetheless it is there.

Over 10 years ago I got ripped off on a fake, taking the word from two people I knew and believed in there knowledge. I ended up with a settlement out of court from the owner.

There is too much down side. Want a great traditional player, get a Tascarella.
Good luck!
Phil

Is the butt plain wood with delrin, or a window with delrin, Hoppe?

So anywhere between 6.5 and 8.5 is probably accurate.... BTW I understand Phil's concerns, but the letter from Pete, is an excellent idea. I try and get people who are the original owners to write some history on the cue also. There are so few original owner Bushka's left, getting that information is also very wise. I would be more afraid of giving certain cuemakers deposits than buying a Balabushka, lol...

BTW ChicagoPlayer.. I like AV but for you to use the OP's question to pimp your movie, and make some sort or correlation between your movie and TCOM is shameful.

And you didn't even address the OP's question.

I was told even when Mr. George Balabushka was alive, there were already a sizeable number of counterfeit cues being passed off as his cues. Many were very high quality cues, and likely survived to this day. In addition, we have people confused with the Adam licensed copies. On AZ, it comes up pretty often someone who thinks they have an original, and told they have an Adam licensed copy.

As others have pointed out, you're not going to get a serious offer without a letter of authenticity. In addition to Pete Tascarella, Mark Kulungian is another Balabushka expert who can provide a LOA.

To rule out the Adam licensed tribute cue, can you post a picture?

AND to answer to OP's question, in which cue prices are directly influenced and impacted by one and only one factor- being mentioned in a film!

Balabushka would be expensive but not as costly without being mentioned in the film.

Knowing that fact-
and that I am working hard to propel our sport through all media avenues available,

don't you think anything and anyone mentioned in a book or film, gets a bit more attention and prominence?

We are talking about Balabushka prices- I am giving you reasoning as to why prices for Bushka's are so high.
Many of Balabushka's full-splice blanks came from Chicago makers!

I feel no shame for my post- you are just unaware of the facts.

look lady, you are just wrong. The post was not why they cost but what. Others have opined caution. Your post does niether. It is a cheap pimp of some movie and you excuse is laughable. You played in a room where blah, blah, blah. I rarely say anything negative but this is so obnoxious and absurd.

Btw, i used a uninal in th st. Louis airport after paul newman and sat on a bench in the park lane in ny where mickey mantle was passed out drunk next to me.....about the same as your story.

Start your own thread....see if it is read

One possibility...what if its a 1 owner cue? Would you expect that the owner should determine value?

I gave my opinion in my original post (It's a buyer's market)
and then I give an explanation about the pricing, from my perspective.

This thread gave me cause to remark-
you don't think it's justified and said so.

Good for you!

I've yet to see a Balabushka without a weight bolt.:grin-square: Also, as I understand it, the Titlist Balabushka cues account for the majority of counterfeits. Although off topic, I wonder who the cuemakers were that produced high level copies other than Verl Horn tribute Cues. It would have required incredible knowledge and skill to nail it.

Do you own the cue or are you wondering how much to pay for a cue you believe to be a Balabushka without a LOA?

Do you and all of us a favor. Stick to your movie, and don't comment on cues which you know nothing about.

I have forgotten more about these cues, than you'll learn in your lifetime.

You came to this thread to pimp the movie, and that is it.

He asked for a price on a specific cue, not your opinion to the Balabushka market or your incorrect opinion on to why there is a market.

Look, I, as well as everyone else, hopes whatever you're doing with the movie, succeeds beyond your wildest dreams, but don't play everyone else for fish.

Your posts, and the intentions were clear. You got caught and called out.

Feel free to start a thread and debate the cue market, Balabushka's and TCOM. Or better yet, use the search function, BECAUSE it has been discussed at least 100 times since I have been a member.

Again, good luck with the movie.
