If you say so

So are you honestly saying that pool's long term track record of unprofessional behavior has nothing to do with the pitiful state of professional pool in this country?
I'm pretty confident it wouldn't be much better if the players were 1000000% professional at all times.
Would you also say that for the unprofessional behavior of the promoters too? or is this also a red herring?
It's an interesting discussion and I know if it were me I would be beyond pissed about this....$2k to me isn't chump change and even though yes it's my own risk I would still probably be venting hard core on here....much harder than you have been so kudos for keeping your cool for the most part about it.
Matt <---- will stick to $50-100 calcuttas and backing %s of poker players[/QUOTE]
ahh, the smallcuttas. :grin-square:
I don't think that's the issue either... it sure doesn't help thing but it's not what's held pool back. Everytime something bad happens, it's always "what's wrong with pool".
Him oversleeping the only prayer you got.
I tend to believe that there's rarely one simple explanation for anything. Usually, it's a collection of factors that explain most economic phenomena. When it comes to the business of pool (of which pro pool is a part), I think the track record of unprofessional behavior by parties associated with professional pool (players, promoters, organizers, and leadership) is one of many reasons why pro pool is in its current state.
IMO, unprofessional behavior has a way of creating a self selection mechanism that keeps away people and companies who might otherwise become productively involved and attracts those who see this unprofessional milieu as an opportunity for self enrichment. This is never good for any sports industry.
While some sports have such overwhelming popularity and fan interest that they can fade this type of headwind (Boxing comes to mind), others aren't so lucky.
You use the bridge that you are most accurate with given a particular shot. This will vary from player to player.

you're welcome
Darren Appleton could come up with a better answer than that in his sleep.

That'd be great!

yes, that is exactly what I'm saying.
If the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR and boxing can not only survive, but thrive with wife beaters, child beaters, rapists, thieves, drunks, steroid freaks, attempted murderers, actual murderers, drug makers, drug users, drug sellers, gang members, then over sleepers are NOT pools biggest problem, nor do they crack the top 1000.

Sleeping past his tee time was not my point.
Making a gesture of amends -- beyond just saying I'm sorry--was.
Lou Figueroa
I cannot determine what you meant by "making amends" Lou ?..I was really surprised, that you aggressively continued to put him down, long AFTER he posted his apology !..Please explain what 'amends' you expected of him ?..You surely can't be siding with the FEW on here, who actually thought he owed "restitution" !..They are obviously NOT knowledgable gambler's ! :frown:..He was not a happy camper, but even the OP, (BJ) to his credit, made it very clear he did not feel that way, nor would he have accepted it, if offered !
PS..We all know gambling at pool, can turn sour MANY different ways !..A 'once in a lifetime' forfeit, for oversleeping, is IMO, hardly grounds for trashing a well respected player !![]()
That'd be great!
