Dp cues.. Any good?

One DP that have is a decent cue. The other is falling apart..rings are protruding and pieces of abutting plastic are cracking. Recourse is not so great. My thoughts...buy something else.
 
Two players on my team both play with DP cues. Both are very nice looking cues and play just fine. I've been to Dale's shop many times and seen a lot of very nice cues in all stages of production. For the money, you can't beat a DP cue.
 
Dp are really ugly, the inlays are awful, and you get what you pay for.
Once you tune up the shaft they play OK, but who wants to play with a cue that is exceptionally ugly.

You are entitled to your opinion and disproval... but, falling apart, really a bit much don't you think?

Unless the rings were 'protruding' when the cue was new, this is due to the fact that
the adjacent wood has moved, which wood will do. Are you sure it is the plastic that
is cracking and not the finish, which could also have been caused by the wood's reshaping itself.

Never shot with one but I have had a couple in for repairs...
After repairing a couple of them or at least the one's I repaired.
My personal opinion is I wouldn't every buy one , but I have only seen the ones that were falling apart .
Never seen one that was holding together.

The glue was failing on the ones I worked on, butt cap joint collars ferrules coming loose .
 
The only issues/complaints I've heard about are from people who brought them at collector prices, and harp on the ebay ones.
 
they're fancy for the price, I have yet to see one that wasn't falling apart after a year or so...
 
Make good bar beaters...... but I had one of his 'Better Ones' that the Butt warped.... in less that 6 months.....I've seen others that play just fine. Better than a players for the price (Ebay) ..... but stay away from his signature series.....

I have one that is my daily player for over 10 years-no problems-I have 3 or 4 cues over $1000, but I always go back to the Perry

My wife's cue may be an exception! It has held up well so far being 5+ years old. She didn't get an ebay one though and had it custom made from the site...maybe he tries harder on those lol. She loves it though and that is all that matters.
 
I have bought four of them. I gave one each to my two pool playing granddaughters and and one each to my daughter and son-in-law. I played with one for a few weeks before giving it to them. It's been over three years since I gave them to them. One uses at college and the other three at Capones in Spring Hill, FL. They still all look good and are not falling apart.

I'm sure the bad rep on AZB for DP cues is from flippers that got caught holding his cues they bought at a high price when he went to making $150-$$300 cues and selling them like hotcakes online.

I got each one one the cues I bought in 2 days...with NO Problems. Johnnyt
 
I had one for a few months around 6 years ago. It looked nice and played as good as I could make it, but I didn't favor it over my existing cue. I may be one of the only people on the planet who re-sold a DP cue for a gain... on EBay, no less, and 100% accurately described.

I'd buy one again if I needed an inexpensive cue for a new player and wanted them to be excited about having a semi-unique cue.

No, the "bad rep on AZ" is because Dp cues are really crappy.
I don't know any "flippers" that would of been dumb enough to get stuck in a $1000+ Dp cue, but I do know players that paid up to $1300.

Ok.. it did not fall apart. Has broken/chipped pieces of plastic and the rings can be felt. Am I sure about the cracking...yes and I'm sure the cue is not great quality. I am not stating an opinion...simply telling my experience with DP's. I have a custom DP from 2000 and it's my (most expensive) favorite player and showpiece. Has a 29 & 30" shaft w/uniloc. It's a beautiful cue.
The 3 ebays I have. 1 is pretty good. The second I like but the shaft nicks way too easily and third is the one with the ring area flaw. DP cues are worth the starting level bid and not more. Mine started at $99. I paid various prices for mine until I decided they are inconsistently made. I'm not bashing DP cues. Just reviewing.
