★ world 9 ball championship ★ qatar★

Opponent sold out & SVB won 9-6

hopefully Shane will spend the next day and a half getting lots of rest, adjusting his sleep schedule and eating well. Even hit the gym. He looked tired.

It's times like these where a trainer/coach would be invaluable. This is a marathon for sure.

That AC must be doing pretty well. Shane still has on his long sleeve blue shirt.

That place is a meat locker. Players are well aware. When making their packing list for W9B, cues are number 1 and sweater/jackets are number 2. It's bone chilling cold in there.

Might I also add, as a viewer, it is so nice to see traditional colored Aramith balls. For me, it makes for the best viewing.

I think they are done for the day and will resume 12 noon their time tomorrow. That will be 5 am US EST.

That Morra, REALLY earned that victory. Steady as they come.

He gave him the match,I don't know if you watched the match but there was a super easy dead safe at 7-5 but He got impatient and decided to go for an awkward combo using the bridge . Then Morra ran out and B&R for 7-7. Congrats to John . Nice finish for sure but he should've never had that chance.

wow, Shane has to clean it up - big time. after this guy, he is playing Jones from UK, who just won his match 9-1. I don't know much about Jones, maybe SJM can fill me in, but I'm sure he won't let Shane get away with mistakes in the way Salem is.

Sorry but Jones is not a player I'm familiar with.

anyone have any background info on Richard Jones?
http://www.azbilliards.com/people/6404-richard-jones/

He is from UK, but I can't say I have ever seen him play.
He is up next in group 10

Richard is a pure journeyman professional and has played in the majority of tournaments that I have ever run. He has a pretty solid record on the Euro Tour and he really is capable of beating ABSOLUTELY ANYONE. But so far he has yet to string enough consecutive matches together to win a major. But you never can tell, but he does have the game to go all the way and I would bet on him (with someone else's money).
The Jones Boy used to manage Micky Flynns Pool Club in Cambidge and he is one of the Game's Mister Nice Guys.

One thing is for sure and that is that Shane will have to WIN this match because Richard will be taking NO PRISONERS. I look forward to watching it.

Too bad matches are over, didn't get to watch any matches
No major upsets so far. Qualifiers doing well

Matches between strong players that I would have watched-
Waleed Majid v Yang 6-9
Yukio v Franscisco Sanchez Ruiz 9-8
Nick Van den berg v Naroyuki Oi 5-9
Ko Pin Yi v Denis Grace 9-4
Ko Pin Chung v Marcus Chamat 9-5
Chu Bing Jie v David Alcaide 3-9
Konstantin Stephanov Wu Kun Lin 7-9
Li He Wen v Roman Hybler 9-8
Lee Van v Ruslan Chinakov 6-9
John Morra v Mario He 9-8
Chang Jung Lin v Ralf Souquet 8-9

sjm, JoeyA, HelloBaby, mikepage, AtLarge should post more. They have a good knowledge of world players and know what they are talking about.
This is World Championships NOT some regional tourney or any other major. The level of play is many notches higher because the good players all over world fight to play in this so the pressure / hunger to win is so much higher than any other major. There are ex-world champions in qualifiers (Chao and Yukio) who did not get invite putting their pride on line.to play qualifiers and there are players who only save and travel overseas just to play this one tournament. That tells you what this tourney means to the players.
At least 4 to 5 dozen players can win this whole thing. So this is no child's play

PICK OF UPCOMING MATCHES TO WATCH
Yang v Yukio
Daryl Peach v Mike Dechaine
Ortmann v Mika
Niel v Alex Kazakis
Marcus Chamat v Kevin Cheng
Liu Hai Tao v Chao
Waleed Majid v Francesco Sanchez Ruiz
Babica v Bautista
Darren v Aloysius Yapp
Chinakov v Liu Cheng Chieh

I hope I get a chance to watch Daryl Peach v Mike Dechaine AND Marcus Chamat v Kevin Cheng. I guess I had better check to see what time they play.

Is that Reuben Bautista?
