U.S. Open 9-ball Updates

Anyone know what the story is with Quann vs. Hamamm? Final score -1 to 11, not long after match started.??? Did Quann commit some kind of misconduct or something??

That's probably how they denote a forfeit

Yes, that is what it was. I see it in the brackets.

Congrats to Kenny Brisbon on just beating J. Ignacio on the hill! Go Kenny!

Wow that is big for big underdog Brisbon
This upset is about same epic proportions as upset by Corr over Big Ko
Go go Brisbon
BTW never heard of Brisbon before LOL

Just curious why nobody thinks Karen can play? Have any of you ever watched her play?
How many of you would jump in the ring with her? I know i wouldn't want to.

Sometimes the people here amaze me:rolleyes:

exactly my thoughts. Karen Corr is a 4-time snooker world champion, not to mention her numerous titles and achievements in pool. there are lots of youtube videos of her matches. you will be amazed with her consistency in playing.

Kenny Brisbon was the winner of the US Amateur Nat'l Championships last year. Entry into this tourny was his prize.

Kenny is a top amateur player. We lost to his team in the finals of the APA Masters last year, then he went on to win the US Amateur. I believe he also has a 2nd place in the seniors at the super billiards expo. He plays ALL the amateur events. Beast of a bar table player.

He is a beast of a player, congrats to him. Well one things for sure, considering opening day results, the field in itself, this is shaping up to be a very interesting tournament.

I hope this isn't another case of a pool player not knowing how to get to work on time!

It's not...

On Darren's FB page:

Darren Appleton: No show by Jeremy jones so 2nd round tonight 9pm

Ray Hansen: Jeremy was NOT a no show. He was never signed up. This must have something to do with Barry getting to show the free entries as added money to qualify for WPA Points event. It's really unfortunate since there were "paying" entrants that would have filled that spot.

Jeremy Jones: Just FYI, wasn't at the open because having surgery tomorrow to repair my hand. And I did not register for the event. I'm upset not at the open and hope the event goes great! Good luck Darren Appleton and wish was there to give you a match!! And good luck to all the other players!!

Wow, the Europeans are back with vengeance after horrible showing at recent W9B
Most thrashing their opponents
Jayson 11-3
Thorsten 11-2
Alcaide and Mika both on hill

This ex-World Junior Champion Franscisco Sanchez Ruiz looks impressive blowing away Raj Hundal 11-5

It is a big upset but not exactly an improbable thing happening. As others have mentioned, Kenny is a strong "semi pro" level player and has some notable wins. He definitely belongs in the field.

Kenny's a cool guy too. He's an acquaintance that I like to think of, as a friend. I met him while he was traveling with John Mars. Good people, both of em.

Ridiculous stoppage here by Karl Boyes, trying to argue that after Shannon Daulton made the 9-ball in the 13th game he laid his cue down on the table to rack the balls and the cue ball struck it, even though it was just barely trickling at the time.

However he brought this up after the balls were already racked for the next game, so there's no way Shannon should allow this. You can't go back in time to the previous game and argue for a foul once the balls are already racked for the next one.

Total cheap move by Karl. If I were the ref I'd agree with the foul and then boot him from the match for being such a nit.
