Where's the proof?

I'm asking cause I don't know (naturally). I know that it's said a high run has to be fully recorded or even in a tourney or something like that, but where is John's 400 ball run and who vouched for this.

I've always heard of it but no details, everyone talks about it but not where to see it.

For what? For it to count as an official world record? Yes, then it has to be recorded.

But for me to believe it happened, if John says he ran 400 then he ran 400.
He has multiple videos of runs over 200 and noboby is filmed 24/7.

There is also "competition high run" and practice/exhibition high run.

The competition high run was 125 for decades, and held by multiple people, because that's as high as the games went to in tournaments. Then it was 170 something when the games were extended.

Now, its 200, because the finals of Charlie's 14.1 event is to 200 points, and Appleton ran out a perfect game.

Proof

If I remember correctly, John Schmidt ran 403 at Q-Masters in front of many witnesses. I think he had just signed on with OB Cues and it was on either a Diamond or GC.

I'm not sure of any other of his hi runs- but there has been plenty.

OK cool! I just ran 1200 and I am now stopping to have a turkey sandwich. Carry on.

It's one thing for an accomplished 14.1 player such as Schmidt to say he ran 400+

Witnesses or no witnesses, I don't think people would have a problem believing him.

Hope you can see the difference.

GC. His high run on Diamond is 200+.

of course most practice runs will not have any witnesses...

My question to you is "why do we need any proof of what someone did in practice?"
......its not like any trophies or money is involved

Not just that, but the fact that someone who is an admitted amateur player calls into question the record of not just a world class player (and a nice guy), but someone who at least has posted here many times. This is another example of why the quality of the forum is believed to be declining, and another reason for them (pro players) not to come here. :(

If he is saying that he ran 1200 in 14.1, then, yes, I am. Along with everyone else on the planet that knows anything about the game.

Hmmmm.... I just asked everyone on the planet who knows something about 14.1 and there was not a consensus.

:)

You sir and mr michael are what's wrong. As another thread has pointed out you guy make it your business to come out "with your opinion of what something is" and try to belittle a person. Well you can take your opinions and shove it up your asses.

@michael: why I want to know? well for starts since when pool players are the most honest players and next maybe someone would like to SEE an actual 300+ ball run
@scott: you too sir can go with that as a "respected" person in the community. "I" am tired of the fact that every time an amateur player calls into question something that happened that they don't know about guy like you come out and down them all for what "you" think they meant, THAT sir is where the quality of the forum is declining.

How about approaching someone like another person and oh I don't "ask" "hey, what made you ask that question, you don't believe him or wanted to see it for educational purposes" but no the first words out of you so called know it all is "I know exactly what this person meant and i'm going to call them out on it"

This forum suck, you guys can keep your clan/union mentality. And again, to you, michael and those who come after if you don't have something to add to a thread regardless of what you think or how you feel just leave it alone.

I don't usually respond to temper tantrums, but here goes:

1) all posts on this forum are "opinions", nothing more, nothing less.
2) I don't recall ever intentionally trying to belittle anyone, and certainly not you.
3) of course pool players, like all people, are dishonest from time to time
4) I like 14.1 and would happily watch any 300+ ball run
5) I was on topic with my post, given that some people will "puff up" their high runs (and some don't) I sincerely wondered why you asked for "proof"?......Its our choice to size-up someone's credibility and decide whether we believe them or not, simple as that (imho)

6) lastly, lighten up, its thanksgiving season :D
