Bad Gateway error

About every month I find myself having to delete my tapatalk app and re download it because of a gateway error not allowing me to access threads.

Anyone else have that happen? OR know of a fix instead of deleting the app and re installing?

Been noticing it this past week. I don't usually use Tapatalk a lot and would like a solution other than reloading the app.

For me, it's been the past 5-6 months. The first year using tapatalk I had zero issues. Hope there's a fix, maybe it's a matter of downloading the new iOS since I'm running the original one with my iphone.

What is the advantage of using Tapatalk?
I don't use my phone but the invitation to join shows up on my IPad a lot.

Some sites, it fills my screen...so far, I treat it like spam.

Just convenience I guess having the forum on my phone.

I have the new IOS, I doubt it is that.

Perhaps the forum gurus can look at it, maybe there was an update to the software that is not 100 percent compatible with Tapatalk.

Same problem here. Pt - way easier to navigate and post than the website. Annoying to delete and install every couple months but still worth it for the convenience

Have you tried signing out and back in. I recently did this and haven't had any issues

Now that I think of it, one site fills my screen even using my ThinkPad...no visible way of
Getting rid of it....I go back out and re-enter and it's now a manageable size with an X....

THIS WAS SENT FROM MY IPAD WITHOUT USING TAPATALK

I feel better now...:)

Instead of deleting and reinstalling, try going into Tapatalk settings and select "clear cashe"...

When I am sitting in my Doctors office, I will check in and Read AZB. I always get the Tapatalk invite. I downloaded it once and didn't see a difference in ease of posting, so I deleted it.

Speaking of Bad Gateway Messages. For some strange reason. I cannot access AZB from Firefox any longer.

I have to use Google Chrome.

If anyone knows what may have screwed this up in Firefox, I would appreciate a Heads Up on it so maybe I can fix it.

I haven't been able to find any solutions by Google.

I think sign out and sign in might work. I say that because I had a similar issue where every so often, my kindle reader app stops working, can't talk to the server and download anything... I used to reinstall to fix. Then I tried signing out and signing again, and that did the trick.

A true bad gateway error usually means the website is down and nothing you can do about it, but AZ rarely goes down.

Some people on AZ reported clearing their cookies, and signing out/in again seems to work. Uninstalling and re-installing an app seems drastic, not unlike trying to swat a fly with a cannon.

I googled the gateway error, and I believe it could be a sponsor site being the root of the issue.

When you refresh a page on AZ, all that stuff is assembled or aggregated from different servers and outside websites. The banner ads in the upper right hand corner likely reside outside of AZ, not on their server.

Think of going to a restaurant and ordering dinner. In a well run restaurant, all your food comes out at the same time. I think in this case, maybe a side dish (likely a vendor page) isn't loading and holding everything up. So the gateway (kitchen) can't keep the food waiting because there is limited countertop space (cache), while trying to serve other people's orders.

Cookies is one of ways internet vendors keep track of you. In this case, flushing your history and cookie clears the 'previous' order of a sidedish (banner page from a vendor) from the kitchen (gateway).

Maybe AZ's server is having intermittent issues communicating with a vendor's server for loading up the banner ad.

Same problem with Bad Gateway on Firefox. I cleared the cache, cookies and signed out, but it didn't worked.

On Internet Explorer and Chrome AZB is working fine.

Rep to you for your brilliant response. Also thanks to the others stating to clear the cache and signing out. That seems to have done the trick. The gateway error has happened twice in the last week, was rather annoying having to re install and thought it must have been unnecessary. Thanks again.

Thanks Hunter. Pretty much the way it is. At any one time, there are always a couple of conflicting Firefox Add Ons.

Most of them a person needs. So kind of difficult to find out which one, or ones might be causing a problem.

FireFox is getting to be almost as bad as NutScrape used to be.

Pretty hard to do a FireFox Upgrade. Constant Pop Ups asking you to. Once you click on Upgrade, it virtually wipes out all of your Added Applications, like Ad Block for an example. And all your previous settings.

Useless, unless a person has half a day to go on Safari and find all your Apps again.

FireFox will always drop an Old Data Folder onto your Desktop after an upgrade.
I always find myself dropping the "Old Data" Folder back into it's original place in order to restore it to original.
Perfectly fine if a person knows how and where to drop the Original Folder in order to restore.
Just not 100% Aimed at the average user who might get lost and frustrated once they find that everything
that they had in their Browser is now Nuked.

I went to School for this Shite and I got seriously lost a few months after I got out of IT, trying to keep abreast of everything and all.

See, just in the time that it took me to type this, I received 2 Software Update Notices from FireFox.

At least I have them set to Ask me. I Dislike Pushy Programs that just go in and do their thing Willy Nilly by Default.

Oh well, at least Chrome works decently enuff.

It's been happening to me again as well in Firefox, but only on AZB. All other forums and websites are fine. So it seems as though it must somehow be related to AZB. This was one of the few threads I've been able to get into. I'm also pretty sure when I hit "submit reply" now it will give me a bad gateway message. My podt goes in but I'm then locked out of the thread. :frown:
