Switching over to 3 cushion?

Has anyone here gotten rid of their regular pool table and gotten a 3 cushion table? If so, did your buddies still come over and play?

I've had a nice Gold Crown IV in my home for a few years and probably use it 3 or 4 times per week...usually with the same shooting buddy. I have a local pool hall that I can play regular pool in and I also have a good friend with a nice 9 foot pool table. My game has plateaued at 55 years old and I am getting tired of playing at the same or slowly declining level. I enjoy playing 3C when I am in Denver and can usually run a 3 or a 4 once or twice a session. I don't know a lot of the shots since I play 3C so infrequently. I think there would be some easy upside to my game.

Finally, I would probably have to get a 9 ft. 3C table. The place that I play at in Denver has Korean 9 footers (I think the brand is Hollywood) that 95% of the players play on. If you had to get a 9 ft 3C table what would you get?

Fred, you could have the best of both worlds with a Diamond 9ft ProAm...for playing pool, and a second set rails with my new Diamond 3C rails that can be changed over in about 5 minutes:grin:

PS. There's a third set of rails that will be available by the end of this month for the ProAm's as well....a one pocket set of rails that only has the two foot pockets, the rest of the rails are 3C.

I had thought about doing the Diamond ProAm conversion, or else getting an 8 foot carom table, but I think I'd rather stick to 10 footers. Since I've been so hooked on 3C, I can't imagine competing on your standard 10' while practicing on 9's.

It's a shame because now I'm getting rid of my 9 foot pool table as I just don't use it much after switching to 3C. the room is just a foot too short for a 10'...

Why would anyone live anywhere if one can't accomodate a 10ft table.
It appears that some of our priorities need to be reassessed Matt! You need to move to a new place.

Ha ha

Keep your pool table and drive up here to Greeley to play 3C with us at the senior center. You can just play, or you can join the center ($3 drop in fee or join for $24 per year - unlimited play with no greens fees - residency doesn't matter). We have 2 tables - a heated Gabrials, and an unheated Brunswick with Royal Pro cloth.

Do you know a pool/3C player named Jose - shortish, older hispanic guy - good player - nicest guy you could ever meet? He plays at Hanks, but he won't play on their 3C table because it hasn't been right since they recovered it. He comes up to play with us regularly. Fortunately, because he is a pretty good player and I've earned a lot from him. Dave Gross (our own twelve-squared) drops in every now and then - another very good player I've learned from.

I'm guessing the place you were talking about is Cue BIlliards? One big 3C table and a bunch of smaller ones (although I believe they are 8 footers, not 9)? I was only there once but all of the smaller tables were being used for the 4 ball Korean game. It was a nice enough place that if I didn't have the tables here in Greeley I'd drive down once or twice a week.

PM me if you want more info.
