Issues Blowing Up At The Tornado Open

Once again, athletes in real sports aren't getting paid by the networks.

Try to keep up.

LOL --- You're right.... Football players make multi-millions per year because little angels fly around and drop it in their chimneys.[/QUOTE]

Football players make millions a year because they have contracts with the organization that recruited them.

All I learned from doing events in another sport is that you can kill yourself, purposely not compete to be unbiased, work the whole thing when hired help blows you off, show every dollar on a balance sheet to everyone, set it up to not pocket a single nickle for the love of the game, and people will still ***** like spoiled babies even when 95% of the participants loved it.

And it's always the rat bastard goldbricking never lift a finger of help guys doing all the complaining.

Dozens of top-shelf professional players are chiming-in about their grievances with this event. Most of them are addressing the added money, which is nowhere near the "guaranteed" money posted on the promotional literature, fliers and articles distributed through the pool-world.

Other players are reporting: being treated disrespectfully, having their questions ignored, favoritism and just an altogether tense environment.

The players are not known to stir pots and include the likes of Tony Chohan, Darren Appleton, John Morra, Rodney Morris, Devin Poteet, Drake Niepoetter, Mike DeLawder, and many more..

John,

Maybe the next time something like this happens you or the next guy to start a thread like this will just refrain from doing so and realize that the players are legally mature adults who can speak for themselves. Let them.

My name is James Routledge, I live in Edmonton, Alberta Canada, feel free to look me up anytime you need a correction to your erroneous opinions.

I know right. Plenty of us may not use our real names but those same plenty have many who people can openly know who they are. Like myself which is why I found it funny when English tried to envoke I was hiding lol. All I could do was laugh at the idiocy

Maybe that is the answer?

What about local events. Pay outs top say 5. Rest of bread goes to a escrow. Then on up to regional. Same thing and the money trickles up to 4 national championships. 8,9 and one hole and 14.1. Sorta like an mlm in a way I guess. Reminds me of 3 ball with ace pots

Richie Florence?

Sounds more like Bill Cayton of Big Fights. Actually, Richie Florence was solely responsible for starting the tradition of ESPN NOT paying us for televised events.

Bill Cayton was the first to get players on ESPN and ESPN actually paid the players to be televised. Why? Because Cayton and Big Fights, his company along with Jimmy Jacobs, were Mike Tyson's and Roberto Duran's agent at that time and had clout with ESPN. ESPN pretty much did anything Cayton wanted.

Florence tried to compete with Cayton, but of course he couldn't get ESPN to pay because he had nothing to bargain with, so he wound up giving away the coverage to ESPN for free. That ended all opportunities we had for players being paid to be on TV. Cayton was furious at being undermined and walked away from us and we lost the only chance we had to get paid for being on TV. That was nearly 30 years ago and billiards in the U.S. never recovered from it.

So the women's event had more added money in it than the men's event?
Remind me, which event did Vivian play in?

Yes the women's event had more money added.

Vivian played the women's event.

Did Vivian have a choice on which event to play in?

I didn't know she qualified for the men's event. When did that happen?

Hi Cowboy,

Maybe something like "what" happens...? You "dweebs trying to shut me up" keep telling me nothing happened and everything is wonderful.

All you little pussies hiding behind fake names doesn't bother me. I work for the US media! And I WILL NEVER SHUT UP. I WILL NEVER BE SILENCED. WHEN I SEE INJUSTICE I WILL SPEAK OUT.

Got it yet?

Reading through this thread is like entering, and getting stuck in, "stupidville."

Some people here suggested taking the FAILURE of this event and using it to learn, grow and keep from making the same mistakes. This has been suggested at every failed event for the past 40 years and no one ever does it because pool players are stuck taking whatever they can get. They have to play or they don't eat and because this sport lacks any true leadership and organization.

ATTN TOURNAMENT PROMOTERS: When you state verbally or on your literature (digital and hard-copy) that the added money is GUARANTEED it better be in the tournament payout. If it's not I'm going to be the first person to recognize that you're a F***ing liar and I'm going to spam that information all over the internet.

If this "SO CALLED ADDED MONEY" has stipulations you better make those stipulations crystal clear on your websites and on every news article, flier and amateur interview.

IT IS 100% unfair to these players, who you're asking to travel thousands of miles and spend thousands of dollars to get to and enter your tournament, while they're thinking one thing and you're doing something totally different. THEN, when they catch-on and begin asking questions, you treat them like shit for wanting to know the truth and if you say anything you say, "Well here's my little loophole."

I'm glad the promoters are make money!
I'm glad the streamers are making money!
I'm glad the amateur photographers are making money!
I'm glad the room owners are making money!

When, the hell, are YOU going to realize that they're not making a F***ing nickle without these players???

And when, the hell, are the players going to stand the hell up for themselves?

your posts about less than ideal conditions at this event affects all of us.

at any time promoters can just quit or players can decide to not show.

First rule of the internet.

So......

Hey Vivian,

I'm sorry Seminole got the short end of the stick but I'm glad you walked away with a pocket full of money.

I'm also glad you got to screw the people you've been dying to screw for years. Congratulations!

I'd like to thank Diamond Billiard Products for donating the tables to hold this event and I'd like to thank XPC for doing their very best to give their customers what they paid for.

This is how TAR got chased away because fans dont want to support the people doing something to help the pro players. Fans that dont do anything other than complain.

What have you done for pro pool players, fellow AZB user.

I dont want your name because your not more important than the pros I USE AZB to support.

Fans that openly attack people sacrificing their time and money to make pro pool players have events to participate in.

John,

Nothing wrong with speaking out when you see an injustice, I'll always respect that but you have not been voted in as the "player's mouthpiece" and you can't do them any good here. My point is that the players do not care what happens to them enough to do anything about it so why should anyone else care? Fact is nobody cares about men too useless and clueless to do anything for themselves.

I would guess that many of the posters on this forum have jobs, spouses, children, mortgage payments, car payments, saving for college funds, and many other things that make them work 40-80 hour weeks while they read your posts about how they should care about men too lazy to get a job. Nobody cares John, nobody cares at all and the people who care the least are the players themselves.

If you ever come Detroit way PM me. We'll meet and I'll buy you dinner (if I don't have to work:smile:).

P.S. I am not a little pussy. Many here know me and my name.

Sorry Fran, you've got it backwards. I don't have the time or inclination to educate you on here. Bill Cayton ambushed Richie, who had made a very good deal with ESPN (i.e. NO production costs!), unlike the rotten deal the WPBA negotiated where they had to pay for everything. You're playing fast and loose with the facts!

P.S. One more tidbit of info for you. Richie put Pool on ESPN years ahead of Cayton. Check your facts before posting please.
