I remember back when Cory WAS beating Shane
I remember back when I could beat both of them with my hands tied behind my back. I was around 40 and they were about 4 or 5. I could beat Earl when I was 13 and he was 3.
Joking aside, I don't think Corey takes it as "seriously" as SVB anymore. That is why SVB's break is hard to compete with now. He will spend hours practicing the break while the others are doing something "normal" and then they complain when he breaks better than they do.
Everybody wants to compete at the same level, but they don't want to put in the "work". Rather than put in the "work", they want to change the rules to take away the "worker's" advantage.

Or.. and this is just crazy talk, maybe the rules are being changed to ensure the most complete player wins. For years 9 ball has been about who racks the best and who breaks the best. Now we have rules in place that takes that away, and instead makes it about who PLAYS the best. And people want to say this favors the weaker player?

Well, run along if you must be be advised....not everyone is dumb enough to to by in to this BS that these 149 players in the US Open are the best players in the world....if they were, there would be no need to change the rules of 9 ball as much as they've been changed in this tournament this year!!!

If the best players are always going to rise to the top as in dominate the finals....and no one else has a chance of breaking into the final 8...except the best players in the tournament....what good does it do to change the rules of the game.....for what players?

You really don't get it do you....LOL....TOURNAMENT promoters are the ones that invited the use of racking AIDS....PROS exposed the flaws in racking the balls in a perfect rack everytime....by putting in the time to study the rack after the break to find the flaw....of making the one ball on the break every time therefore domination of tournaments started taking place creating even more separation between skill levels leaving the amateur players even less chance of pulling off some wins......so, rater than banning the use of racking aids....instead the promoters started messing with the rules of 9 ball to try and balance out the dead money players with the Pros, but when that hasn't even worked....then everyone started calling 9 ball a broken game....the PROS don't call it a broken Game, all those that can't win do. So, that started the push to play 10 ball....but SVB put in the time perfecting his break in 10 ball to become one of the most dominate players today....and again we start hearing....10 balls a broken game....by once again, the dead money players who don't want to put in the practice a lot of Pros do. Nope, everyone just wants to change the rules....to more rules, then when that don't work....they want to change the rules even more....until one day.....no one wants to play anymore!!!!

The pros got good in making the wing ball way back during the PBT's days Glen.
Then, they started making them break on the box .
Using the triangle slowed the game down . Even had a LOT OF YELLING matches .
It used to be the other guy racked. Then they would have arguments and delays . So, they went with rack your own .
That was before the Sourdough rack came out .
Then the Corey vs Mika 11-0 happened.
And then the shellacking by Alcano against Souquet in the world 9-ball with the tweety bird break.
So, they outlawed the tweety bird break.
The rules they have in the US Open does not favor a banger . No banger went to the US Open this year thinking he'd win b/c of the new breaking rules and the template.
There's a breaking controversy in the US Open every freaking year.
Guess what, the racking aid is another pool product. Another sponsor .
They need as many sponsors as they can get .
The purpose was to eliminate 20 mins of racking time the only way to get a unpredictable rack is to let the magic rack stay intact breaker puts balls in an opponent can move 2 balls and the chips fall where they land period

Rack triangle, rack your own, 20 seconds to rack and except it, or except forfeiting 1 loss of game to get an additional 20 seconds to rack and accept it as is.....not complicated!!!
Yeah, right. Then you're gonna have tilted racks all the time.
There's lines on the table to see if a rack is straight or not, like the line around the rack for playing 14.1
I still like my idea of having a randomizer app that will tell you which balls go where each rack, use the Sardo rack, and no touching of balls once inside the Sardo. Could be rack your own or opponent racks. Player gets one challenge and ref is called over, if rack is found to be OK then a penalty of some sort to whomever challenged it.
Why not just specify why balls get racked where in the rack, no exception6?
