Should headphones during matches be disallowed?

What is stopping someone from having headphones on and having someone on the other end talking to them about strategy or anything else that can help in in a match, like hearing a real good commentator like Jeremy Jones give out his insight on the play at hand.

I am not accusing anyone. I am just asking what is stopping someone from do it. Apparently there are no rules baring it.

Saw you post this in the fight night.

I could see the headphone thing happening in an amateur league but these top players I feel like want to play their own game. I feel like most of the time in the mosconi cup when someone talks their teammate into a different shit they miss or get bad because they aren't shooting their shot. One pocket would be the game though that maybe a pro would benefit from a one pocket guru.

I used to be a no for headphones, but I played a match in a tournament and not too long ago and was on the screen table that's a commentary was about 6 feet away and I could hear every word those two guys were saying. It was brutal and I couldn't make a ball. Actually I did make a ball.

Sooooooo...^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Whaddiya think about wearing headphones?

I bet most would give action to anyone getting strategy advice through their headphones that actually needed the advice.

That fact aside, my vote goes towards it depends on the format.

Major event: no headphones
Small weekly tournament/gambling match: go for it

disrespect takes many forms..,

I just think it's disrespectful through and through.

I'm all for headphones. I have played so many tournaments where I have had to ask the guy I'm playing to save the conversation with me for later, I've had it happen while gambling and seen it in league.

Rather its intentional sharking or not, the headphones cut the stuff way down.

Yes for headphones. Mostly because of whatever music the place is playing.

I'd rather hit myself in the mouth with a hammer than listen to Country music.

I can barely make the shots the voice in my head thinks are a good idea. If somebody wants to add another voice to theirs I would say good luck and flip it.

go for it

That's what I was thinking: if I match up with a player evenly and he is listening to a coach...I am gonna have to give him the 8. :slap:

Your opponent is wearing headphones....
...he scratches the second time...
...you tell him he's on two fouls..
...he scratches the third time...
...you claim the game...
...he says he didn't hear you tell him he's on two fouls.

Somebody is gonna tell me i should've tried harder to get his attention....
...I'm gonna tell them that I'm not his $&?! employee...
....I'm his opponent.

Headphones are not allowed according to the WPA rules. But it seems it's more fun to come up with your own rules. And confuse everybody.

Where do the WPA rules say that headphones are not allowed?

The CSI (BCAPL/USAPL) rules do say that.

I like to play with headphones, but i follow a few steps, when someone else is breaking i have my headphones out of my ears so i can hear if he says (push out) after the break, while he is shooting i keep them off. The only time i keep them in my ears is when its my turn at the table.

I vote NO

I believe in APA they are not allowed.

I don't think they should be worn during a match on any level. Just seems a bit rude to me. But, I understand some people want or need to block out distractions; so why not use ear plugs, like the foam ones that they use at auctions.

This is how I approach it while wearing headphones. Just common sense.

The room I play in gets VERY loud.
