Diamond Carom Tables

I don't know about your reasoning Glen... Just offering another opinion.

Perhaps:
There are cigarette burns on all the rails of 8 and 9 foot carom tables cause the players don't care. The slate seams are showing through the cloth cause the players and/or room owner does not care about the equipment. The tables are all slow cause the cloth is the wrong cloth, or was not installed right. Again, a function of who the room owner hired to do the job, or how much he was willing to spend.

I think its more a player problem than an equipment problem.

I'm all for this idea, don't get me wrong. I'm just offering another possibility as to why the equipment in many straight rail rooms is bad.

Gentlemen,

I'm all for Diamond making carom tables.

I just wanted to mention that we already have a US manufacturer who makes 8-9-10 ft billiard tables and you have the option of heated slate or not.

Olhausen has made these tables for sometime. Our club has played on them for 11 yrs. They come in 10 different models.

The Olhausen Open on Oct 9-11 will be played on 4 heated 10ft Olhausen tables with Simonis rapide 300 cloth.

6 current and former US National champions plus the rest of us slugs will be competing on these tables(perhaps I should limit it to me being the slug).

I'm encouraged to see American manufacturers like Olhausen and Diamond making quality carom tables.

Maybe it's a sign of a resurgence. I certainly hope so.

Go to www.caromclub.wetpaint.com for tourney info.

I would like to try out a 10ft heated olhausen carom but I don't know if anyone would ever buy another new one

Never even seen pictures of one

Anyone online played on the 9ft Diamond carom yet?

9 foot table

After reading the negative response to the 9 foot table question I felt compelled to reply.
I own a 9 foot Soren Sogard heated table. The reason I own it is I love playing 3 cushion billiards. The room I have is one foot too small to accommodate a 10 foot table. The fact that a 9 foot table market is being looked at is a positive thing. People who want to play billiards and can't fit it into a room will have a chance to do so.

I had a trying time in finding my table. Looking far and wide before finding it. I transition quickly to a 10 foot table. My average has increased two fold since having my own table. My friends who play on my table all have said that there is very little difference in the playing experience. Any player will testify that all tables play slightly differently. Even new ones put up for a tournament with the same cloth, balls and table mechanic.

I for one would urge anyone interested in our sport to give it an honest try before assuming the worst.

Kudos to Diamond for going after the market. 300 Simonis and heat would be a step in the right direction.

Its been 7 years since this thread started. What is the status of the 9' straight rail table? Has it made inroads into any of the Asian rooms?

The 9 footer being discussed is not designed for 3 cushion, it is designed for the free game and the Korean 4 ball game. RKC said specifically it would have 860 not 300. And it is aimed at the commercial market not the home market. I doubt there is enough of a home market to make producing 9 foot 3C tables a viable business in the US.

But it is all moot as the tables never seemed to materialize and RKC is very quiet about it now. He has moved on to his secret plan to save the pool world.

Personally I would have no trouble playing on a 9 foot carom table that was set up for 3C. Heck, I'd love to have a 1 meter by 2 meter mini table at home.

All you need to do is throw simonis 300 or Royal Pro on and you can 3c away,
Other than that, why couldn't you play 3c on them

Straight rail is played on big tables with fast cloth over seas, heating

I can say for myself in 2 yrs of owning 2 different tables playing on 2 different types of cloth with and without heater I don't notice a difference, I wonder how many of those that would own a table would be able to tell the difference apart from high level/life long players

Yes, I have 3 Soren-Sogaard 9' tables. You are so lucky to have one. Because I am still looking to get more. That model sells itself.

We had one in a pool room near me. Started out fine, but the room wasn't up for maintaining it, sadly.

It is gone and I don't know where it went.
