Please recommend the best One Pocket match to watch.

I think Alex might be tough to watch, for a novice. He does a lot of thinking chooses pretty basic stuff...

But his execution is damn near Flawless, when he wins.

I agree, but It's tough for a beginner one hole player to pick up on what's basic when watching Alex pick apart racks

A lot of those matches are very good to watch, but if your watching to learn the game try to get one with good commentary, which of course opens another can of worms.
The Efren v Shannon match from Galveston has some fantastic one pocket only thing that would make it better would be if it was available in better than 260p.
I recently watched a POV pool match that had Jerry Manchin doing the commentary and I really enjoyed it.

Hi there,

I'm keen to have a look at One Pocket, so was wondering if someone could please recommend a really good match that is available on YouTube. Perhaps the One Pocket equivalent of Wu's comeback in the 2005 World 9 ball final, or Shaw destroying Immonen?

Thanks.
If your wish is to learn more about 1Pocket, one way is to chose a match that has superb commentators! It does not have to be a match with great 1Pocket players, or even good 1Pocket play. If the commentators are good, you may, perhaps, learn more about the game in less time than watching a superb game with no comments.

Having commentators who can expertly describe the play makes for an enjoyable educational experience.
But your quote (above) did not mention commentators.

Is this the 20k match i ca?

I thought it was kinda weak.
Alex was dialed in on that table and scott couldnt make a ball in his own damn underwear.
I beat people who play as poorly as scott did and i got no business playing him in real life.

The 8 ahead frost/Alex match (if you have the time) is up there as one of the best sets I've watched. Those two were on point for days

It was 50k I think. Been a while but i think it was 100k in the middle?

I'm gonna say I think again just to stress the fact that I think and I can't remember. Lol

The best match was filmed on Accustats.

I bought it over the weekend.

It has Efren playing Alex, and then Efren playing Jason Miller in the finals, several years ago at DCC.

It was without a doubt the best one-pocket I have ever seen, and I am an old fart.

Pay the $15 (i did) to get the DVD and help those who help our sport.

JMO,

Efron vs Dalton any event. Galveston is fantastic.
Billy is great if he isn't jabbing the other commentator more then making observations.
The "Beard#" offers great commentary.

Is that the one where efren ends up 3games winner in about 18min...includin pening and closing credits?

I think that's tha one where Efren kept putting Alex in impossible situations...
...and Alex keeps smiling in admiration at the Old Master's talent.
It's a great tape.

2011 US Open One Pocket Finals

Efren Reyes vs. Chris Gentile

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6A1QCJTdBU

This is the match that got me into the game. Commentary by Billy Incardona, Scott Frost and Corey Deuel.

If you're curious or just learning about 1p this is a good place to start, as the three of them discuss all types of options and opinions over the shots and strategies.

Also funny to hear Scott bagging on Corey for many of his "creative" choices.

Yes, one of the more interesting commentaries out there, three different points of view
worth watching

That is the short teaser. To watch the full version it is On Demand now. Here is the link. 2 hours of the best racks between these one pocket machines. https://vimeo.com/ondemand/frostjoyner <--Yes, well worth watching, and great play by both, but way too advanced for the average player to learn from!

1P Rich Grenier vs. Little Al Romero;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjeRBiTCRQ0

Here is as good a match as I have ever sweated, by two guys who really know the game!..Two of the best at trapping, and getting out of traps!..Excellent way to learn the moves in one pocket for ANY caliber player, but especially good for someone trying to learn the game..It would be even better if they were not playing the fairly new rule of spotting a ball, when there are over 4 balls in the kitchen, which neither one are that familiar with!..Also, pretty good commentary too.

Lenny..You co-commentated the above match..Its true, neither 1P Rich, nor Little Al shoot as well as the very top pros, but for a guy trying to learn the game, they both move as good as anyone!..Much easier and more realistic, to learn from someone who does not rely on cueball wizardry, like Efren, Alex P, or Scott Frost!

PS..Watch it again..you may have forgotten how well they both moved, every shot!

You asked in such a way that the response has to be the most awesome, unobtainable feat. I see many helpful posters giving all kinds of good ones, but you want the magic one. I'd hope you also want the less-than-magical ones for obtainable learning purposes.

For the uber magical, head-shaking you'll never get there DVD, I'll repeat one that's already been mentioned (Ken 4 Fun): Efren vs Alex semi-final DCC followed by Efren's demolishing of Jason Miller in the finals. But this would be from Accustats, not YouTube, so I'm also violating your question.

Alex played some amazing one pocket and really showed what he was capable of doing in one pocket in this match. Efren still could give him 8-7 at the time, but that gap was closing.

They both play shots that are beyond mortals, but you can see how powerful those shots are.... if we could only have such cueball control. Most of us don't have that cueball control, so if you decide to use those moves in a game, you might be shooting yourself in the foot.

Freddie <~~~ with holes in feet

Cmon, fred...admit it: those phd 1p shots work ut at least 14% of the time, for us hacks.

Not all is lost...unless you bet it all, of course.

Accu-stats dvd 2006 DCC Efren, Alex, Jason Miller. Efren in FULL-FLIGHT mode. Freddy the Beard doing the color. Great stuff!!

Yes that is a good match to learn from without question. I like One Pocket Rich and his game, very solid player and nice guy too.

That match would have looked waaaay differant on a table with something other then 4" pockets. I was watching them move and thought they should be shooting. Turned the volume on and heard "yes this table has 4" pockets".
That is not a good option for a trnmnt table.
