In no other self respecting sport is something settled "ahead". Everything is capped!! NBA Finals Best 4/7 Superbowl 1 game, MLB best of World Series, Tennis Best of 3 or 5 sets etc..An AHEAD race imho DOES NOT tell who is better. Maybe who can concentrate longer or has more endurance but that's it!! I mean when it's show time its show time!! Bring your A game straight out the truck and race to 10 games for the same 1k, $5000 or whatever.Why play for 10 hrs straight?? .But I guess quick sports betting $1,000 on the 1st half or betting $300 on the coin toss on the Superbowl has me spoiled!! LOL

Says who...It doesn't make LOGICAL sense to me to play matches for several hrs and days etc..What about your real life? (Outside of pool, if he has one??) And from a cost benefit analysis it's definitely not cost effective. A'INT NO MONEY IN POOL. PERIOD!! The biggest money in pool is by people from OUTSIDE the game (poker players, Vegas gamblers etc) who just love the game. LIKE ME

its just a diff skill set....like being a 9 baller or an all arounder. The more solid player will win. especially if its in an alternate break then its even more intense lol.

Perhaps, but for example I saw a video where an American Bulldog totally almost killed a Pit Bull but after about 3minutes got disinterested and walked away. The Pit was bleeding badly bud chased him down and wanted to still fight. So who is better

With pool and tennis being my two favorite sports, I kindly disagree with you on this comment. If two tennis players both make it to 6 games each, they play a "tie breaker". If that is the case, one of the players wins the set 7-6. Two of the four Grand Slams force a men's player to win the final set by 2 games. That will be changing in the near future just due to strain on the individual player. For example, John Isner best Nicholas Mahut 70-68 in the fifth set of Wimbledon several years ago. This match lasted almost 7 hours. That is crazy.
I agree that ahead sets are a bit silly. In my opinion, it's the life long loafer gambler that is good at ahead sets because they have never had a real job and have spent their whole life just staying up all night long gambling. That is fine, but that does not mean you are a better pool player than a guy that will play a race to 100 over 3 days with some rest involved.

If you're referring to 9ball, races involve FAR too much luck. In "ahead" sets the rolls tend to even-out and better player wins most every time. If you're gonna play races then they should be race-to-15, race-to-20, etc. and win by 2. One of THE best sets of pool i've ever seen was James Walden giving Michael Coltrane the 8ball. 10ahead for $10,000. Rules were "stop every 8hrs". Match took 3days, Coltrane was on-the-hill THREE times and LOST. Walden in those days('96) was a monster cash player.
