lets talk about banned azers.

I'm still confused about the term "banned"...
...you can "ban" actions....ad hominem for example...
...you can "bar" people...

So shouldn't the posters in AZ jail be considered "barred"?

To add to the confusion.....
..this is a "band"...

And this is a "Bard"

You can't "bar" someone who is already a bar person.
I tried it one time and nothing ever happened...and that's no shit

:groucho:

What ever happened to the member "Gremlin"? I remember he was a strong supporter of the lady pros and attended many of the WPBA tournaments.

I can't figure out what happened to Gremlin either. All Gremlins posts were deleted unless he was quoted in a thread:confused::shrug:

I was hoping for funny stories. Didn't want to bring up negativity. People tend to laugh about stuff in retrospect so I thought it would be funny stuff. Moderator please take the thread down

Not much funny about getting banned. The amusement is sometimes in the antics that lead to banning, which are almost always negative.

I know both JimBo and DriverMaker - they have my email and phone number if they object to anything I said. I seriously don't think they will. These events were long, long ago.

This thread does serve a purpose. It discusses why people get banned. Some people do not do respond well to censorship. Ultimately, that and being unable to issue a restrained response, or antagonizing the moderators when reprimanded, lead to most bannings.

DriverMaker was a man who I found was very amusing and clever. He knew a lot about pool and was a very early advocate of fractional aiming systems. He somehow figured out how to decipher the Hal Houle system before most people did, used it, discussed it and even taught it. He was very intelligent. His name derived from the fact that he built high end, custom drivers for golfers.

Basically, you didn't want to get on his bad side, or you would be torched without restraint. He did pick his victims carefully. I think he was banned after a nasty war with Sweet Marissa. Marissa was an attractive young woman who tried to use her considerable feminine charms on him but he wasn't buying it. I believe he released the literary Kracken on her and was banned, probably for 100 years plus 2 lifetimes.
DriverMaker was a man who couldn't be censored. He pushed the envelope repeatedly and effectively.

He eventually reappeared as Wyatt Earp on JimBo's site a bit later, without the restraint of moderation. I learned a lot of colorful words used in ways I couldn't have imagined due to his rich understanding of in the English language. No doubt Wyatt Earp would have moved on from AZ anyway. You can't handcuff that guy.

Drivermaker is a great guy. Someone who isn't to be trifled with in a verbal altercation.

I have been banned a few times for going off on people. Even I can get too hot and cross the line when the defamation starts.

There usually isn't anything funny about a banned story.

I heard it was unwise to get involved in aiming threads ... could lead to a ban.

Do you think I might get a warning for posting this in the gif thread?

A CTE experiment gone horribly wrong.

I've heard that he is still around and doing well.

Also, in some of the banned cases, this thread gives people an opportunity to talk about the things they liked about the shunned ones.

better to use banished:

ban·ish
ˈbaniSH/Submit
verb
past tense: banished; past participle: banished
send (someone) away from a country or place as an official punishment.
"they were banished to Siberia for political crimes"
synonyms: exile, expel, deport, eject, expatriate, ostracize, extradite, repatriate, transport; More
forbid, abolish, or get rid of (something unwanted).
"it's perfectly feasible to banish the smoke without banning smoking"
synonyms: dispel, dismiss, disperse, scatter, dissipate, drive away, chase away, shut out, quell, allay

Yeah lets here it

I want to know. Just like I want to know what people went to jail for. Hell half
the time I just say "you can go to jail for THAT ? ".
