...2-3 years back many of you here on azb complained that european players on MC team are emotionless robots and that you prefer to watch players with "heart". Well now you get Shaw and Filler who have plenty of emotions to show yet you complain again because according to you they act unsportman-like and not gentleman-like. I feel little bit confused..what is it that you want in euro players again?:confused::confused: And when USA players (this year it was Hatch, formerly Dechaine, Earl..) act like that it is perfectly ok with you. Really confused about this... :frown:

they want us to lose......but since that doesnt work anymore they need excuses for getting manhandled in their very own game! you know, things like player a of europe would never play shane for the money in a rt 100, in america, on a diamond table, with the 9 on the spot and winner breaks ofc lol
just like in politics, many of them having their "own reality".....:frown:

Just IMO - but I think a lot of folks just like to have something to complain about.

I said the same thing in another thread, I thought that was what the MC was about, having a good time and pumping up the crowd.
If Filler was on our side, they would have built a statue already lol.

While SVB doesnt play good in MC format I think he still is the king of those marathon races to 100, his mental stamina is just amazing and his monster break is quite tough to fade unless you have similar weapon in your arsenal. And there is nothing wrong with Diamond table, it is THE best table I have ever played on. To be honest I would love to see SVB vs Jayson Shaw in a long race as I think that Jaysons game improved big time since his match up with Justin Bergman which some of the guys here like to bring up again and again and he may actually be able to overpower Shane.
Anyway money match is totally different discipline than tournament play and comparing these is virtually pointless as they need totally different mental approach and skillset.

Now that TAR is done, SVB being "King" of the 10 ball race to 100 is doing him little to no good. How many such high profile lengthy races are played in the last year? One? None? I literally can't remember the last one.

Well, even as a eurofan I have to say that I can`t stand Filler`s antics after every game. Don`t get me wrong, an outburst after a win with a bit of show and celebration for the fans is ok and should be done at an event like the MC, but Filler`s behavior was too much in my eyes.

But I´m someone who admires the coolness and killer instinct of someone like Feijen or Albin.

IMO the show part has to be done off the table. Hatch with his US-coat, who tries to stir up the US-fans, Chamat with a big grin and his Napoleon`s hat, Shaw with the eagle mask, that`s all good stuff.
During the game I want to see deep focus, good shotmaking and sportsmanlike behavior and not someone screaming and jumping around like he does a porn scene.

As an American and fan of US pool, I really didn't see a problem with the celebrations and chaos of the Mosconi Cup.
The Mosconi cup was always like WWF pro wrestling of pool. A sideshow that is supposed to be fun and full of all that we saw last week.

I've watched that infamous earl vs Steve Davis match or earl vs Daryl peach match dozens of times. The ref issuing warnings. The crowd going wild. Tony Drago ready to launch out of the stands at Earl. That to me was always the Mosconi Cup.

So I had no problem with the entrances, The celebrations, etc. I even got a laugh out of the Hatch no handshake. I was hoping they would go to a microphone interview in the back room and Hatch could start barking like the Macho Man Randy Savage back in the 1987 Royal rumble.

After all, if we can't have fun, what can we have ?

The time for seriousness and decorum is for the rest of the year, not the Mosconi Cup.

I wasn't able to watch much live, so I read the comments here early about Filler and if you ask me he was subdued from what he's done in the past at other tournaments. The kid can flat out play. So he's entitled to let out some steam at the very least.

Emotion has been lacking in pool. Also rivalries and disputes are good for ratings and driving up interest in those who have no clue what professional pool is.

So let the players flex their muscles and shout.

It worked for tennis and golf, why not pool?

Someone called shane, "Shave Van Choking" and damn everyone got so hurt, I laughed my ass of when I read that.

I played golf in High School, I was varsity player, but every week we had to qualify to go to tournaments( top 4 scores, and 1 coaches pick). I would always do great in qualifying(mid 70's) and get to go to the tourneys and shot 90+, lol
One time I shot a 73 to qualify to go, then shot 121 at the tourney, I had quite the similar nickname.

Everyone who doesn't perform at the cup needs to be benched, SVB is great player, just not in those circumstances, as well as a lot of the rest of the team.
Blows me away how everyone would pick him for MC again.

It seems to me, sir, that you have never watched a foot ball game or you would
understand emotional support at a sporting contest.
....we tend to call it soccer
..I've been around soccer hooligans in London when there was no game going on....
...I felt I needed protective clothing...

I hope the American team get it together in the future.....
...the whole world will hear about it..all the way to the Antartica

Well, EU does keep whipping us. We don't have much to celebrate, ya know?

I think they should open the Cup up to other possible teams. Perhaps losing 2 or 3x in a row should result in the losing team being replaced.

just moderate emotion and a bit less talent; that would be terrific. :D

thank you for asking. ;)

best,

Great suggestion

Or just open the whole thing up to the world and have a double elimination or something , which I think would be a great idea as well.

I support team USA without a doubt, but I would rather see competitive matches more than anything.

It seems to me, sir, that you havent recognized a hint of sarcasm I put in my post :D:D:D As I know very well what emotional support at a sporting contest is ;)

It seems to me, sir, that you think you have sarcasm locked up....
....and no one else has access.....

Don’t get me wrong here...I love your posts...and I’m a big fan of 14.1

Agree. Filler has behaved like an cocky axx in previous tourneys like US Open , China Open so it is not as if people are only knocking him for his behaviour in MC.
Having said that, would be great if you have video showing "screaming and jumping around like he does a porn scene."

Hey dipshit, there were many people here calling out what Hatch did to Filler. There are even some snowflakes here who are butthurt about Oscar's joke.
You are wrong.
End thread.

C'mon, it's an exhibition. If the euros lose MC #30 - 40 I'm sure the US will be called
steroid freaks, or drunken degenerates, juvenile delinquents, something like that.
I know it can get heated, but it's really pretty much a 9 ball All-Star game,
I'm wondering why we haven't seen the "Crotch Chop" yet.
