SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

Loose racks

All of this controversy about racking is because some troglodytes still insist on using old-fashioned triangle racks. Magic Rack and its competitors eliminate these types of problems. I can’t help but think that people prefer old-fashioned racks because they WANT bad racks for some reason.

At the top level, a perfect rack is as bad as a crappy rack

From this same discussion on Facebook, people were saying Bustamonte quit on SVB the match before for the same reason.

If there is no referee, and it is rack your own, and as long as Shane is not engaged in pattern racking, then I don’t see where it is any of Shaw’s business how tight Shane’s rack is. And, especially, he has no right whatever to disturb Shane’s rack and demand he re-rack. It seems to me that Shaw is the one who is clearly and obviously engaging in unsportsmanlike conduct.

It doesn't have to be the case that one is completely guilty and the other guilt free though, right.

Two to tango too, you know?

Really? I'm not making any judgement about this particular incident but surely leaving gaps that are designed to give the breaker an unfair advantage is akin to "pattern racking". The opponent has every right to question the rack in a non-refereed match.

Lwd's post must read differently that the author intended, right?

Gotta be.

If you seriously think it was okay to rack like this as long as it was not pattern racking tells me either you are a cheat yourself or a complete idiot.

I’m not trying to imply that I’m smarter than Shane...but I might have more action experience.
So, I’m playing in a 9-ball tournament about 20 years ago at Fast Eddie’s in Arlington...
...ran a four-pack on a guy...he was a bit of a hothead.....it was rack your own.

So, the fifth game, he came over to look at my rack...he said the two balls behind the
one weren’t touching....so I turned the rack three ways....switched a couple balls...
...I told him I couldn’t get those two balls touching while they were IN the rack, never-
mind when I took it off....he said “I do it every time, why can’t you?”
So I handed him the rack....said “Show me....if you can do it, I’ll learn how to do it.”

He couldn’t freeze them either....I ran another rack...and three-fouled him the next rack
to win the match.

The rack looked a lot like this....

...except the three was closer to the nine.

Hard to find perfect racks and perfect balls.
...so what happens if Shane hands Jayson the triangle?

Yep.... let’s throw one extra ball out on the table... 10 ball..., that’s the way to go.

You guys are killing me with the 10 ball thing.
