The Living Legends Challenge - Mike Sigel vs. Earl Strickland <<<===={{{{{

I'm right handed but shoot pool left handed. I also use the bridge right handed. I've never done any serious amount of practice shooting right handed but unless I'm stretching and shooting over a ball, i just switch hands or use an extension.

I guess left handers are just more adept with their off hand better than right handers because the world is built for right handed people. I’m terrible shooting left handed. I really should work on it some because it is a useful skill on a 9 footer especially

DJSTEVEZ...Where do you get these wild ideas? The pool league that Mike Sigel was temporarily associated with, had absolutely nothing to do Keven Trudeau. It was owned by a couple in Las Vegas. Mike was never an owner of the league, so he certainly could not have "sold" it to anyone. In truth, he was asked to leave the organization by the owners (read: fired). In truth, the GPPL is now owned by a woman in Dallas TX, who has put it on the back burner for the time being.

From my limited perspective:

Him & Kevin Trudeau would still like to market & implement their new league system.
I would imagine Mike is still seeking investors to make this vision come to life. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike also had a few other investment worthy projects in the hopper.

I know Mike did extremely well with his cues via a connect in China. I've spoken with 2 well known cue makers who confirmed that it was indeed Mike making his cues, and that he's pretty darn good at it. I suspect, like many who did financially well while married, living with only half of ones previous assets is difficult. I'm not sure if or how that plays into his cue making.

Mike's schedule is pretty full with teaching, playing golf & fishing (not necessarily in that order, lol). He's not living in the mansion on the private island anymore, but I don't think Mike is punching a clock anywhere. There's still a decent amount of money in being Mike Sigel and Mike, like Tom Brady, is one helluva come from behind kind of guy. -Z-

This has to be the start of another Series, right?

Question now is, who's next....?

Efren

I hope so and I hope that they get the eyeballs they need to make it happen.

Anyone have any idea how many subscribed? I hope enough to make it work out.

Seriously???? Makes RKC's ideas for a pro tour sound reasonable. Do we really want to watch pool legends play bad?

The only guy over 50 that could actually have a realistic chance of beating Earl overall is Bustamante. All the rest are either too old or don’t play enough

Absolutely.....Why Not...?
It was Pure Entertainment...

Earl shows up wearing construction boots, a fanny pack wrapped around his chest, some sort of michelin man police dog wrap around his arm, and these foam/tape finger extensions that look like he just came out of surgery.
On top of that, he pulls out the giant ear muffs, just so he doesn't have to listen to Mike.

Then he shoots lights out pretty much, the whole match.

Just because Mike is nowhere near his former self, or anywhere near Earls current game, doesn't mean it wasn't entertaining. I loved it. Mike was a little over the top with the language, but he clearly was having trouble with the table, and his nerves,
He was just having fun with the crowd, and trying to get Earl to crack a little.

The Earmuffins took care of that.

Saturday, while Mike finally was winning a set, he gets ready to make a critical shot, and he says " my lips, my lips, I cant breathe" ....classic.

Yesterday, he says to Cosmo " hang on, hang on, give me a minute, I'm having a cardiac thing".....Mike had me in tears a handful of times.

The back and forth yesterday, between those two, was priceless.

In a DCC style all-around, meaning banks, one pocket, and nine ball, Ike Runnels, who is just a few weeks short of 65 years old, would, in my opinion, be Earl's equal.

That's funny I don't think Earl would ever agree to play that slow player.
15 or 20 years ago Ike was hard to watch cause he played so slow, I could only imagine how bad it is to watch
him play now days.

Also I still think Efren give Earl better match than Mike did.

I haven't watched Ike play. I didn't know he was that good.

In terms of 9 ball, 10 ball, and 8 ball I think only Bustamante would be the favorite against Earl of the players I'm familiar with. Earl seems too impatient to really excel at 1 pocket

Efren would definitely give Earl a better match but I really enjoyed Mike. The banter was priceless.

BUSTIE is a SLIGHT fav, imo

NO ONE else is in the same zip code in the format that EARL roasted MIKE

Simple answer to that one...........just don't spend your money.
The people who want to pay to watch pool legends play bad will soon tire of it and that will be the end of that.

People are nostalgic and long for the old days

They still fill Bob Dylan concerts and the guy hasn't hit a note right in at least 40 years-doesn't even want to-McCartney hasn't hit the hi ones in 20+

ABC's Wide World of Sports had Lassiter, Fats,Cowboy Caras, Mosconi etc 25 years after their prime and the shows were wildly successful as will be this Accu-Stats series imho.

A local cuemaker's son told me his dad visited Mike's shop and came out of there swearing no cue had ever been made in that shop. He said half the machines weren't plugged in-no evidence of sawdust anywhere and a few more things i cant recall. He believed Mike was putting his name on cues someone ghost made for him. I have no real idea on it though. It did seem he turned out real fancy cues real soon after starting. I see a post a few above this one where someone says he did indeed make his own cues.

Sounds like Dennis Searing shop :rotflmao1::rotflmao1: That was far to easy
