I'm starting to get in stroke and need some practice partners. I'm willing to play almost any game (prefer One Pocket or Banks) just for fun (lunch or dinner) or for cheap stakes. Must come to my house in the Torrance area. I have a very nice Diamond Pro-Am with tight pockets, suitable for One Pocket. I'm not looking to match up, since I don't really know how anyone plays and I'm not playing that great currently. I'd call myself a low B player. I'm willing to play anyone even!

I just need practice partners. There's a limit to how much you can progress playing by yourself. My e-mail is jayhelfert@yahoo.com.

P.S. Dennis Orcullo will be here all next week and if you'd like a lesson hit me up and we can arrange it.

This a hellofa opportunity to get to meet two icons of the game! Jay I have a couple of graduations for half my kids and need to move another this summer or I would be first in line. I will gladly accept a rain check as I do travel to the west coast often.

Good luck with your game and tell DO to practice up... I will be coming for him:p

Wow! Would love to do this but unfortunately I will be busy for the next few weeks. Certainly take a rain check.

I wish I had a chance to be in your area and play some.

If you ever come to Hawaii, look me up.

Hey Jay, right about the time Mike took the site down for a week, saying he had "server issues" ( wink wink... Mike, you were spotted on a beach in Bali, guzzling Mai Tais... { BUSTED! } but hey, EVERYONE needs a vaycay once every decade or so! ), you were not feeling well. Hopefully you're back to the norm now.

My friend has a 5x10 Brunswick Arcade, I was thinking bout moving it to a more suitable area for recording high runs. Is the offer in surpassing Willie's record still good on a 5x10 with 760 Simonis cloth? Oh and I'm glad to hear your healthy again Jay. If I lived closer I would like to mix it up and would play Dennis Orcolla race to five for a cold or hot beverage in one pocket - maybe a stake dinner playing banks with either one of y'all. Lol :-)

Okay Mike, you got me. I'm still on that beach!

Hey, Hawaiian Eye.
Just curious, what's Hawaiian Brian's like these days?
I'm coming to Oahu in October and just wanted to know if the tables are worth a practice.

What about the tables at UH? You been there lately and played?

Of course, this is presuming you live on Oahu.

Thanks

Danny, you are invited ANY TIME! I would love it if you could come out next week and spar with Dennis. You would have a place to stay and enough food to fill your tummy!
My deal remains the same as far as surpassing Mosconi's high run. It must be recorded in its entirety and that DVD will belong to me. The pockets must be reasonably tough, with 5" being on the large side.
As for me, I like to play good players like you 5-4 in Banks. That way I can win a game once in a while.

What about the 5x10 with 760 - pockets are 4 3/4 (ball return) this table is built like a sherman tank Jay. It has the iron backing built into the rail if ya know what I mean, would a table with these specs qualify for your Mosconi challenge. If so I would move it into the room where I have the Kling Billiard table. I am currently playin full rack banks very well Jay, of course Dennis is one of my all time favorite players to watch compete - but I'm not sure I want to be on the receiving end. I can compete with him playing 14.1, banks, and maybe 3 - cushion as well. I only play full rack - but I think its probly me best game as of late. Not lookin to get on board the west bound 747 but thank you for the offer you and Dennis are both gentleman of our sport of this I have no doubt. If you know of any good bank games that way I might travel west young man. :-)

I’d like to see video of Dennis and Danny at one pocket, banks I think Danny would make it very rough on Dennis IMO

My offer still goes Danny! I would want to see the full, unedited run on a DVD. There must be continuity from rack to rack, if you know what I mean.

I'll see if I can line you up any Bank Pool games. I think I know a couple of guys who might play you. If you come this way, I will pay for your travel and stake you to play. No cheap games though!

Translation: You have to play me on my home track, for nothing, and if the action is too tough, I send in Orcullo.

Lou Figurera
but he's willing to play
anyone even, lol!

Yes Lou, I like to play pool on good equipment and there is a serious lack of it in L.A., except in people's homes. I would love to play you some, and I will be a little more lenient with the bet, and I promise Dennis will not interfere. I know 10K is a game you like, so I've been checking my bank account and I can cover you.

I know you are some distance away, but if God forbid you should by some miracle lose to an inferior player like me, I will refund $1,000 for your travel expenses. There are many AZ members who live in L.A. and I would be willing to play in one of their homes, so it's a neutral court for both of us. I really hope you're feeling better soon so we can have some fun playing One Pocket. I'll look forward to it. :)

My match with John was 15 years in the making, you are not even close.

And if for some reason that I can't even begin to imagine at the moment, we were to play for more than a couple of bucks, it would never (not ever) be on your home table.
