A few of my friends and I are heading to Vegas to watch the 8 ball and looking at the current list from the csi website, many big name players haven’t signed up yet. Is the list not up to date? (I don’t know how to post links on an iPhone). Or are most just not going? If so, we are going to be disappointed

I think there will be a lot of 1st round byes :p

At least the "West Coast Swing" events aren't overlapping it this year (or was that a NOLA event last year). Watch to see who is in this weekend's Freezer's 10 Ball event. Bet most go over to Vegas after....

The online registrations look to be a bit light, but the ones that are there are worth a trip. Aranas, Hatch, Kaci, Kiamko, Orcollo, SVB, Woodward, Thorpe. It may be light on names (at least now) but just the US guys there are a good Mosconi Cup team.

Plus who knows who will show up at last minute.

Maybe if you have seen those players play already a few times it may not be worth the trip. I was hoping Reyes would be in the area and would go play, he is the one pro my son and I have not met that we really want to.

Most pro players sign up at the last minute. Not sure why, but it's how they roll.

This! I would expect a minimum of 64 players per event based on how many are already out here for the West Coast Swing.

I had the pleasure of doing some commentary with POV Pool at the California Billiards event and it was a blast. Daniel Busch has it all together with his streaming (all free by the way!) and it made for some great shows and wonderful matches between some of the best players on the planet. What's not like with a half dozen of the Filipino greats, SVB, T-Rex, Toastie, Thorp, Chinakov and Woodward crossing cues.

I'd like to go on record here and finally relent about something. After watching all these guys and more up close this past week, I can say without question that this generation of pool players is better overall than my generation. Yep, I said it! Nobody I grew up with played Ten Ball like Orcollo, Shane and several others. They would have given Buddy, Sigel and the Miz fits. If Earl had to face this crowd in his heyday, he might have gone crazy a lot sooner. :)

Not even the amazing Ronnie Allen could have stood up to the One Pocket onslaught that T-Rex lays down. Big T makes running eight and out look like child's play. He may be partially responsible for Efren seeing the light and saying enough's enough.

Go to Phoenix and Freezer's Ice House if you get a chance this week and you won't be disappointed. Same goes for the two big events at Griff's in Vegas the following week. There's some great pool being played by these guys as they fight for the top prizes. Low entry fees and minimal expenses make this a good opportunity for a few players to pump up their bankroll. And if you like action matches, hold onto your seats for what you might see in Vegas. JRB just made a 660K score at the World Series of Poker and he's itching to take on the champs for some serious coin.

That West Coast match past week was great. I think if it was a final two sets, Chinakov could have beaten Dennis.

Also watching Shane break in 3-4-5-6 balls was fun, reminded me of the first time I watched him play on the TAR match with him vs Corey when the commentators were talking about his break.

He was regularly in battle playing pool last year for 1 or 200k/day last year. Maybe him and Hennigan can get in action, Hennigan is having a tremendous WSOP.

We have quite a list of top pros who say they are coming but haven't paid their entry fees yet. It will be a very competitive field.

I've been a fan of this west coast swing over the last several years. Big names playing on big tables. I've enjoyed the hell out of it.

Will there be a Stream for the 8 and 10 Ball?

Yes, the website says "Live stream by CSI."

And the povpool stream from Tempe, AZ today also said that CSI would be streaming the US Open events in Las Vegas.

True, but matchin' up gambling, I think the depression era type players and 3rd world countries and the alike produce the greatest athletes in sports. Soccer and pool, being rich has NO say, like Lassiter, Eddie Taylor and Efren have proven, life and the conditions and your mind create you.

Good that you came around. Most of us old guys don't get it.
