Bad Deal with engineman76/William Crosby

This is the complete story from start to end as of 8/3/18
and this is the rest of the story as of 8/7/18 at the bottom of this page



On Friday the 27th of July I made a deal to trade cues with William.

so the deal was his cue for mine and he assured me it was in great shape when I asked him about it.

I agreed to the trade based on that. We both agreed that we would send out the cues asap which was going to be on Saturday morning. I did so and he did not. He kept putting it off until he received the cue on Monday morning. He then still did not send out the cue until Friday morning...which is no big deal except he neglected to tell me that he had dropped the cue and broken the butt cap on it. Now he things i should
pay to ship it to Jacoby to get it fixed and then to have it shipped back to me in 6 to 8 weeks time. He claims that he will pay for the repair but only $125 because that is what he was quoted. That does not include shipping charges for me to and from them and the fact that i am out 6 to 8 weeks with no cue to deal with.

I told him no way is this a fair deal and he should ship me my cue back and after a few short texts (which are listed below that i copied and pasted to show the original errors in typing) well you can see his response....not very nice to say the least.

And it is obvious that he delayed the shipping of his cue until he got rid of my cue.

How am i supposed to come out on this...

Refuse the cue as the deal with him will not be complete and go after him as a fraud deal over the usps mail?

Accept the cue and hope he pays for it all if he pays at all?

Any opinions would be nice......at least dont let him do any more deals until this is resolved correctly.

You are in a little bit of a pickle then.
You can Paypal me $350 to cover total refinish of cue if needed. If it is less I will send you a copy of the repair and cost and refund you the rest back

I have not heard from him anymore. He claims to have traded it already and does not have it anymore

Here is the rest of the story................

ShortBusRuss listed that he sent a linkedin email to Mr Crosby at approximately 6:23pm on Friday the 3rd.

At 6:26Pm I started receiving messages from Mr Crosby via my phone. I also started receiving phone calls from him. I did not respond to any of them as I wanted all further messages to be on AZB so that there would be no misunderstanding of what was said.

On Monday at about 4:40pm the mail arrived and there were two packages from Mr Crosby. The one that was supposed to have the Jacoby that he traded to me was in a tube but it was opened and looked empty except for some clear bubble packing. It was apparent that it was a really bad job of trying to seal the tube.....I refused that and it should be going back to him. Now the other one was a box and in it was the cue that I sent to him. It was still wrapped in the same bright orange bubble wrap that I sent it to him in and the tape was in the same place that I put it. I use heavy duty tape that if you try to remove it the bubble wrap is ruined. In my opinion it was never taken out of the packaging that I sent it to him in. The cue seems fine and in the same condition that I sent it to him in. (it was not removed from the my packaging as far as I could tell)

Now the other concern is the Jacoby cue that he sent to me. I hate to say it but it sure looked like it was never in the package or it was purposely packaged poorly to make sure it fell apart in shipping.
I am sure he will file a claim for his lost cue........should he be able to.....my cue returned to me packaged correctly and the first one sent was a bad package. Both sent within a day of each other so he knows what to do for safe shipping.

It just seems to me to be purposely done.

So here are the texts he sent to me 3 min after the linkedin messages sent from ShortBussRuss...

And that is all that has happened up to Tuesday morning the 7th of August 2018

He never apologized to me for what he said or did....even though on AZ he claims to have done so....all he said here was "sorry about the deal"

My major concern here is the missing Jacoby cue that was supposed to have a broken butt that was missing from the shipping tube.

What to do?

There you have it....right after ShortBussRuss sent the linkedin email all of a sudden the cue was back in his hands and on its way back to me.
Both packages arrived on Monday although one was missing a cue(and that one was refused and handed right back to the postman...it never left his sight) and I have mine back. So I guess I am whole again just short the shipping and insurance funds.

Will this deter me from buying and selling on AZB ? No not at all. I have hundreds of trades and sales and over 125 repeat deals on here and have only had 2 experiences of it not working out and I had both of them resolved in the end.

Open a USPS Postal Fraud Complaint and present yur documentation to them. It can be argued the
other party intentionally withheld information that his cue was damaged subsequently to the agreeing
to trading of cues and you were entitled to the return of your cue in original condition which the seller
is refusing to do. The definition of U.S.Postal Fraud appears below:

Mail Fraud
A crime in which the perpetrator develops a scheme using the mails to defraud another of money or property.
This crime specifically requires the intent to defraud, and is a federal offense governed by section 1341 of Title
18 of the U.S. Code. The mail fraud statute was first enacted in 1872 to prohibit illicit mailings with the Postal
Service (formerly the Post Office) for the purpose of executing a\ fraudulent scheme.

My advice to nsafellow is to accept the $125 and never do business with the guy again. Lesson learned and lesson taught to all on here, so thanks for that.
P.S. Never did see a pic of the broken butt cap.

Depending on how he proceeds, a call to the Naval base in Norfolk might be in order. Im sure the Navy would like to know when/if they have active personnel committing what could very well be mail fraud.

This.. BUT... There are two Petty Officer William Crosby's in the Norfolk area. I have access to the global address list. It would be helpful if you had a middle initial, maybe we can determine which command he works under.

If you want this fixed quickly, then find out what unit he is in and call his command.

Text him again (he might have blocked you) and let him know you're giving him 3 days to get back to you to make this right, in some way, and after that, you are going to a Navy recruiter and asking for the guy's command, and that you will be contacting his commander to address the situation.

That's one of the things about being active duty in the military. You can't really f*ck over anyone, because your commander, if it is brought to his attention with the correct proof, will take a big ole bite out of his ass.

We both know there are plenty of dirtbags in the military, Easy.. They'll act professional at work, and get up to all sorts of shenanigans in their spare time.

I just meant the grammar. I fully believe that's the guy, but how the hell does someone get to that rank without being able to spell? Oh well, must be a Navy thing :D.

"Scary" makes people react emotionally, and gets testosterone involved. That's when you get the answer "Come at me, bro!!!!"

Logic makes them think calmly about how bad they are about to f*ck things up if they don't listen.
