U.S.A Vs Russia Dream Challenge free stream

So far USA dominate singles winning 3 out of 4 while Russia dominate doubles winning 4 out of 6 matches
The rookies (McMinn, Elleman, Styer) have lost 1 singles and only won 1 out of 4 doubles matches they were involved in so contributing only 0.5 points out of 5 points for USA. And 3 of next 6 matches will involve rookies

This is surprising since most every thread around here talks about how Americans can't compete with the international players...you would think the Americans, being a bunch of bar table bangers, would not be able to win a single match.

Well...the Russian team is not as strong as the European team will be, so team USA had better get it together sooner than later.

It just gets old hearing many on here talk about how pitiful the Americans are. I think a lot of folks would just like to see our team go ahead and forfeit the Cup to the Euros and save themselves the time and embarrassment.

But then again, I am a competitive person. Testing yourself against the best is a great way to grow as a player/team. I wonder if the EUUUURRRRRROOOOOPPPPPPE fans ever thought about packing it up when the US was winning 11 years in a row?

I have learned that in many sports things are cyclical. Talent levels fluctuate, wins and losses come and go....I mean there was a time not too long ago, that my beloved Crimson Tide actually lost multiple football games in a season!!!!:p

I didn't say a darn thing in my post about the Americans being pitiful...but they will need to step up their game when they get to the stiffer competition.

Then, they're going to have to fade the raucous spectators that are going to be in attendance, something they haven't done well in the past.

That was deja vu but of course great come back from SVB. Next year let just play Gorst vs. SVB a decider

Some great shot making those last two racks by SVB
Yeah, last 2 racks are worth watching. The shot on the 1-ball and 2-ball in the second to last game were both difficult shots, as was the 1-ball shot in the final game. Nice comeback for USA after trailing 8-5. Wasn't it a little strange Russia didn't select Chinakhov for the last match instead of Gorst? Not that it likely would have mattered the way SVB played that final match.

IMHO Gorst and Chinakhov seem about even, and you are correct about "not making a difference". Shane made some really great shots under the gun. This type of event certainly can't hurt team USA by putting them under that kind of pressure.

One thing is for sure Gorst is a killer with a jump cue!

The best player on Team Russia for this event is old man Stepanov and Stepanov should play the final match. But maybe the coach wanted to give chance to young players than old folks.
Based on this event performance , 2 or 3 of rookies should be cut . Probably keep Ellerman and. Bring back "volunteer" Corey. Obviously, both teams pulled punches and did not field their best team since both teams brought in rookies and spread matches almost evenly amongst all players. Clearly, the top 5 from this USA team is favorite over Russia.
IMHO, if play Mosconi Cup style by countries, probably only UK, Germany, Holland are the Euro countries that would favorite over top 5 of this USA team.
Probably USA about even with Spain and Poland but favorite over Finland, Austria and other Euro countries. :D

i'd say that's about right. poland would be a tough cookie though. finland is definitely up there too.

regarding team USA. svb and woodward are no-brainers, thorpe should be on the team too. ellerman has a fearlessness that is valuable

If I'm not mistaken, didn't this same thing happen last year? UsA comeback and then down to the final match with Shane vs Gorst with Shane taking the team to victory.
Very cool. I wasn't able to watch as much because of work, hopefully the matches will be on YouTube to watch again.

Very cool to see Team USA start on a positive note.

I watched the final two matches on YouTube Live.
Wouldn't that make it available?
